Seems bizarre that players want to sign for Chelsea atm - yes they get big salaries but with 40 odd players a number will not be in Chelsea's squad, and unless they get in to the squad over a few years, they'll find their football careers are more or less over.
A couple of players missing out on Chelsea's europe squad to play tonight as an illustration :
Raheem Sterling - signed 2 years ago for £50m, now aged 29. Will have a couple more years on his Chelsea contract, but unless he can find a way out of his contract he ends up in his early 30's a multi millionaire but no club to go to probably
Tosin Adarabioyo - Signed this summer on a free, after being connected to us in January as a decent LB/LCB option, aged 26. Again unless he can get out of his contract soon (and another club will probably not pay same wages as Chelsea) this could be his last job as a player.
So with 40 players in the squad, will 15 players be allowed to leave ? And will other clubs want to pay fees or loan fees .... and the wages offered to them to get them to sign up ?
And how long will PL (and UEFA) allow this charade to continue as their current revenue just isn't big enough to pay for player wages let alone all the fees - and all the player swaps surely can't cover up this mess ?
