Seems bizarre that players want to sign for Chelsea atm - yes they get big salaries but with 40 odd players a number will not be in Chelsea's squad, and unless they get in to the squad over a few years, they'll find their football careers are more or less over.

A couple of players missing out on Chelsea's europe squad to play tonight as an illustration :

Raheem Sterling - signed 2 years ago for £50m, now aged 29. Will have a couple more years on his Chelsea contract, but unless he can find a way out of his contract he ends up in his early 30's a multi millionaire but no club to go to probably

Tosin Adarabioyo - Signed this summer on a free, after being connected to us in January as a decent LB/LCB option, aged 26. Again unless he can get out of his contract soon (and another club will probably not pay same wages as Chelsea) this could be his last job as a player.

So with 40 players in the squad, will 15 players be allowed to leave ? And will other clubs want to pay fees or loan fees .... and the wages offered to them to get them to sign up ?

And how long will PL (and UEFA) allow this charade to continue as their current revenue just isn't big enough to pay for player wages let alone all the fees - and all the player swaps surely can't cover up this mess ?

Chelsea's debt was cleared because it was in the fee.

A new owner may not be so happy to buy the additional debt on top.

You'd think someone would need to pay £5-£6bn to return Clearlake's investment and service the debt.
It is going to end up in a Glazer like scenario. Where the new owner has to pay off the debt to Clearlake. So the new owner will be hamstrung for god knows how long.

Has there ever been a club who has made such a mockery of the top tier of any sport?

It's obviously within the rules but then the only answer is that it must be a horse sh!t set of rules.

And they won't implode. God knows how but they won't.

I GENUINELY don't know how ANY club are allowed a 40+ player 1st team squad!

Shouldn't there be a Cap, a maximum player quota...?

Even say as many as 33 players Max. would still represent the equivalent of 3x starting XI's... I can understand that...

Even we can manage that if we're creative, albeit with a fair few youth players added in...

But 43 is simply obscene, and a complete mockery of competition and integrity.

They really are stockpiling the store cupboard with commodities aren't they?

They seem a bit thin at DM

I don’t know, I think you should have as many players as you want. You can only play 11 and what they’re doing is nuts. But let them have 300 players, who gives a fuck? They have to pay and support them, hopefully it’ll help bankrupt the club.
