Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yeah, actually seeing how he plays is certainly no match to using his goalscoring statistics from 7 years ago in seasons he was used as a sub. Brilliant.
So tell me what you see that means he is better. Some arguments ... do you think he is better in the air, or better at link up play, or presses harder ... or what?

We bought him to solve our problem in front of goal where we are wasteful. I really hope he does it, I think goalscoring is pretty good metric for that. Last season Solanke scored a goal every 2 games, Richarlison scored a goal every 2.5 games in a season where he was fighting injuries and off field problems.

Yeah these outside the pressing, where both he and Richy are fantastic at.
We bought him because we didn't have a striker we could rely on to play, now we do. A good one at that.

Last Season:
Rich: 1 x goal per 135mins (+ 4 asst)
Dom: 1 x goal per 175mins (+3 asst)

Availability has proven a big problem with Rich though ever since he arrived.........

The availability is the big argument in favour Solanke, not the quality.
Yeah I don't get that a lot of people have jumped on Richarlison. When he was on the pitch last season the team scored more and conceded significantly less than when he wasn't. Having a proper 9 makes a huge difference to the way we play which is why I think Solanke is a great signing but don't write Richi off. I don't think Solanke is automatically first on the teamsheet once Richarlison is fully fit, he will have to fight for his place.

More chance of Richy playing from the left alongside Solanke

Two big fucking scrappers

Its because his play is limited. His first touch is not that great, he cannot take on defenders, link up play is even worse. He does score if he gets served a good ball but that is about it (That is what a striker does right?). His shithousery was the reason people liked him but even Richarlison will tell you that he wasn't good enough the past 2 years. The fact that he apologized to Conte about his play says it all.

Goal per minute stats are questionable when you have one player who played more than twice as many minutes, you'd expect some drop off there.

Solanke is the better, more polished striker.

Richy is erratic and unconventional and his touch an decisions are unpredictable

That’s bad for a good side

Solanke is far more fluid

I don't disagree. But despite all that, we were a much better side with Richi on the pitch last season. If Solanke can do the same things but better, then we're in really good shape.

Hope you're right.... Would be dumb to spend 65m on him otherwise.

Can't honestly remember seeing much of B'muff last season; so not passing judgement.

All seriousness Vardy missed at least one and maybe two sitters as well.

Solanke should have done better with at least one of his chances but its just his first game- let’s give him a lil break and see what he can do next time out.
He could and should have done better perhaps but his xG was 0.39 which perhaps says that the chances were harder than we thought.

Let's see what happens on Saturday. I think he will score plenty for us across the season.

he was good, just lacking match sharpness. trouble with signing players after pre season. Might be why romero was a bit sloppy too.
with Leicester being poor though it's hard to judge, get a better idea on Saturday as although Everton aren't great themselves they're still a proper prem team with an experienced coach

Seeing some of the comments regarding Solanke makes me realise how so many of you don't watch the games.

He won't get kane numbers.

But I can't remember the last time I've seen a centre forward we bought link play like he does, run the channels like he does.

Compete and win the ball like he does.

Take on a beat men like he does.

He's taking touches and linking play in the opposition 18 yard box not the half way line.

Bookmark this ladies and gentlemen because I think he'll be one of the best signings we make in this decade.

Who would disagree with that????

Oh hang on…..

Heard on LWOS last night there's a chance he's out...

I swear to God, after NEVER being injured before, if we've Gone and broken him after ONE GAME....

especially as Steptoe was SUPPOSED to be injured on Monday...
If HE can miraculously recover, then Dom can!

Hopefully just precautionary!
