You're not alone in your grave concerns, despite what some may have you believe.

It's completely valid to have doubts about our direction under a rookie manager at this level and those concerns have been valid longer than the mythical 10 games in which we played Brentford, Luton, Sheffield United (last gasp winner), Bournemouth & Burnley. Blasphemy to mention around here but your eyes are not lying to you if you've the eyes to see.
Dippers v 9 men we could have lost and only won by last gasp og.

Completely agree, there comes a point where people have to realise Rome wasn’t built in a day. We aren’t going to have instant success, as much as we all crave it
That’s absolutely true but I never get the sense we’re building towards a goal or target. It all seems a bit random and we chop and change managers and systems as we go along. Each time we’re left with players the next manager doesn’t want and the cycle starts again.

Sooner or later you have to pick a manager to stick with for a few years.

I would argue that someone who is building harmony within the club, supporting long term player recruitment and development, handling outgoing transfers with sensitivity and respect, effectively managing individuals with behaviour/attitude issues, motivating the players, handling the press, and delivering attacking football, is worth sticking with through patches of poor form. Moreso than a manager who is divisive, recruits for short term success, is happy to throw players under a bus, unpleasant with the press, and delivering unattractive football.

Arguably those things are important for long term business profitability too.

If he doesn’t significantly improve things yes I agree……. So semi finals and a higher league position is minimum for me. Judging him now is just stupid

All most of us are asking for us to learn from our mistakes and rectify them.

Then we see Werner being brought on as a Sub to get a win in the last 15 mins or so and our manager puts him in the right wing!!

Unbelievable!

Sure enough he did fuck all just like Blow Job previously!

Agree the Club (that means Levy) needs to have an idea of how he wants the team to play then everything comes from that, starting with DoF, who brings in the coaches that play "our" style from the doF & Coach then they pick the players/type of players that way you don't change half a team with a new coach
Swansea used to do it that way, BHA do it that way

thought i might give my non emotional 2 cents worth about the Leicester game.
watched the game twice and thought for the first 60 minutes till the goal spurs were unreal, defended high and aggressive getting to the ball, moved the ball around with purpose and pace and Leicester had no answer, created 4 or 5 good chances and should have been up by 2 or 3 goals.
sucker punch by Vardy (shit happens) and Leicester got a second wind for 10-12 minutes. spurs finished really well. Overall spurs were so so dominant and played some great stuff for a season opener.

from what i saw the fans should be happy with what they saw. sure it sucks that they didnt win but the positives far outweigh the negatives.
once this team starts scoring, which they will, they will be incredibly hard to stop.
good strength in depth also IMO, Bergvill, Gray, Kulu, Odebert on the bench is pretty good.

Jphnston & Son are a worry though

I wonder if the goons would swap where they are now to be able to avoid the two 8th placed finishes in a row they had under cuntface.
Unfortunately Goons regularly win silverware to soften the blow, didn't have 25 years of failure behind them and their fans continuously put pressure on the board if they think they're under achieving.

We, on the other hand, just bend over and accept it.

Even when they were shite, there's no way they would have viewed a season like we just had as some kind of success, or rate it as 8/10 for God Sake.

There's a huge mentality gulf between the two fan bases and it's manifesting itself in this very thread..

If you seriously think a Levy / Postecogolou Combo is gonna have us fighting for the title in the next year or two, well, I really don't know what to say old boy

Despite being generally supportive of what ENIC have done over the years, this is my biggest criticism of them / Levy - not just the chopping and changing of managers, but the chopping and changing of managers who play completely different styles of football.

I actually liked Mourinho as a character, but when he was appointed after Poch, it struck me as a very naive 'starstruck' move by Levy, i.e. this guy has a history of winning and he is high profile, let's get him, without any thought given to the type of football we'd play and how well-equipped (or not) our squad was to play it. Then when that failed, and the fans moaned that 'at least in the last 15 years a lot of the time we've had good football, we want that back', he eventually got non-entity Nuno, then went and got Conte*, who played even worse football and was a much more cowardly and dislikeable character than Mourinho. Hopefully the Mou and Conte appointments taught Levy that a). buying a winner doesn't on its own guarantee winning, and b). the manager, and his style of football, needs to suit both the club and it's players (unless you consciously change the playing style for the long-term and do a complete rebuild - I don't for a minute think that was the conscious plan with Mourinho or Conte, but it might be with Ange...)

* admittedly Conte was probably a desperate appointment when about 10 potential appointments and 1 actual appointment - Nuno - had failed for one reason or another between May and October. Tbh the job was probably considered something of a poisoned chalice by that point... :(

TLDR: For me, appointing Mourinho and Conte (and Nuno obv.) is the worst thing Levy has ever done at our club, due to their inappropriate style of football / fit with our squad, and I really hope such a wild change of direction never happens again. I hope Ange is successful and stays long-term, but if he isn't & doesn't then I hope we will replace him with a manager who suits our style and the squad we have assembled.
