Levy has %100 backed Ange for the long term. Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Yang
Those players have been purchased as financial long term investments because of their potential resale value. Nothing to do with backing the current scapegoat in the managerial hot seat.
If you honestly think they've been bought with sporting success in mind you haven't been paying attention for the last 25 years.

Levy has %100 backed Ange for the long term. Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Yang - while moving on PEH, Lo Celso, Skipp, etc etc... These are LONG TERM investments. Even Solanke isn't being bought to contend for the title this year but for when the new squad matures together.

The levels of poisonous contempt from the usual suspects in Spurs fandom isn't surprising but it's pretty fucking embarrassing.

Support the fucking club mate. If Ange doesn't work out we'll know by May next year. Until then - try and be a SUPPORTER rather than a cunt.

I guarantee you if Ange is not performing he will get sacked this year. That is what Levy does, he even sacked Jose right before a cup final game.... So regardless if he is backing him for the future, he needs to perform now in order to keep his job.
You seem like an Australian rooting for him and I'm all for it.
Just win us something and all the questions will go away for Ange.

I don't think Levy would leave it until after the January window if there's real problems.
He has to decide, if we're in the bottom half whether to spend the money on Ange or someone else. And he's more likely IMO to get uncomfortable backing someone who is failing.
All this talk about bottom half, upcoming losing streaks, early sackings, lol. Newsflash: We weren't out of the top 5 at any point last season (I'm pretty certain).

Yes yes, we got off to a great start which was a big reason for that. But that doesn't diminish that we got off to that start - all points gained count, whenever you accrue them.

Incidentally, there were similar conversations on here this time last season: what if he gets off to a bad start, we could easily lose such and such amount of games and be sitting mid-table blah blah. Didn't happen. So let's see how we do in these upcoming games, starting with a very winnable one tomorrow.

Personally, for me, I want Ange to stay and work

But I truly believe Graham Potter would get more out of this group of players & use the youth more
Potter would be a risk. There's questions over whether he has the personality/leadership qualities to succeed in a big job.

Regarding youth, I suspect we'll see a lot more of it this season going on the profile of player we're buying and even some of Ange's comments at the Euros.

To do that he'll need the support of the fans %100.

I'm fairly certain that that most of the poisonous cunts in here don't actually attend games because it would mean leaving their cumstained keyboards but I don't want any of them killing the buzz in the South Stand with their incessant moaning when its still fucking August.

Christ almighty...

Who have we sold in the last 10 years that we absolutely didn’t want to?
We didn't want to sell Walker. £50m for him was a good deal, and I'd say this is the last time that someone has really tried to take one of our best players.

£50m for Walker was too good to turn down. Subsequently we've spent way more than £50m trying to replace him. That's not smart, Daniel.

We had to sell Eriksen because he refused to sign a new deal. We had to sell Kane because we couldn't risk losing him for free. We didn't really want to lose Kane, Eriksen had really gone in the wane by that point, but in his pomp he ran the place.

You could argue that in terms of a squad we haven't really had players that the better teams wanted to poach, unlike the 1990s and 2000s. Certainly feels like that at times. It was a regular occurrence every summer being raided for our best.

In an odd way it protects us. Romero is on Real’s radar but other than that our players are mostly 7/10 level.

Previously when we had a team of 5/10 or 6/10 players such as under Redknapp but a few exceptional talents like Modric and Bale it obviously meant we where vulnerable to our level dropping quickly if we lost two/three players.

We are now in a position where we are short 1/2 exceptional talents, a next level wide player for example or Kante style bulldog.

They can't poach them if we don't have them.

Klopp was an established elite manager in Europe who had earned that kind of time and patience and at that point we were comparable to the current Woolwich team so finishing behind us wasn't that bad.

I also don't think Liverpool were ever as bad as we were for the end of last season. In fact it feels like there was a pretty clear upwards tick throughout his time in charge, they consistently just got better under him the more time he had to coach and the more players that came in.
Liverpool finished 8th in Klopp’s first season.

if its resale value he’s been going for then he must be an even worse chairman than I thought.

He’s £565Mil in the red since 2019 on just transfers.

Incompetent? Yes. miserly? Certainly not.

Klopp in his first 3 seasons finished behind Poch. Lost 3 finals, but the Board backed him.

I do think Ange is unfortunate in that the club fucked up so badly in support of Poch then the disasters of Jose/Nuno that the patience many Spurs fans have is understandably very very low.

It’s like ordering your food at a top restaurant and 4 hours later nothing has arrived, everyone is really hungry and finally the actual chef arrives. He is under pressure to get it done and done well.

This isn’t Ange’s Fault, the path we are trying in rebuilding and having a vision of how we want to play is something that we probably should have been doing 3-4 years earlier and if it had been the patience would have been much better but after multiple fucks up the pressure will be there to get it done and get it done as soon as it can be. Doesn’t help that our main rival look like monsters now as well, sort of rubs it in our faces.

These young players have fuck all to do with Ange and everything to do with speculation on their future worth.

Call it a hunch that they'll still be here long after Ange walks/gets sacked.

It’s not just resale - it’s more that they could develop into first team players and are lower cost both in fee and especially wages. It’s a sensible strategy as long as enough senior players are also brought in (not just one!)

Despite this, we’ve been generally finishing higher in the table… I find it difficult to square higher finishing positions with having less desirable players. Maybe, just maybe, we’ve been better at protecting our players more?

Poch ok’d the Walker Sale btw (he’d already dropped him for Trippier in the last 2 months of 16/17)

Eriksen we missed the boat on selling and Kane left us with no choice after our worst finish in 14 years

The worst thing about Woolwich being contenders is our fans acting like it happened at a click of a finger.

Arteta’s early FA cup (with Emery’s players) bought him time but he’s still won nothing with *his* Players and now approaching £700mil spent.

First 3 season 8th (Fa cup), 8th, 5th collapsing from a CL place).
European exits to Olympiacos, Emery’s Villarreal, Sporting Lisbon and the worst Bayern in a generation.

And I’ll say it again, too many of our fans are whinging pussies who don’t have the heart or desire to go through what Woolwich did from summer 20 to summer 22.

Then again maybe Levy does need to step aside and hand it to someone else. Woolwich didn’t even change their ownership, they just made Josh Kroenke the figurehead and they acted like it was a new era.

Lol Levy has sacked 11 managers in around 23 years. His managers last an average of 2 seasons. If you think Levy is capable of backing any human-being besides himself then you're barking up the wrong tree. Never has, never will. The clue is in your own words - long term investments. If he statistically doesn't back managers for the long term then where do you get the confidence to say these youngsters are specifically for Ange? Even Poch, a statistical outlier who produced the strongest 11 we've ever seen in the Prem was never "backed". Levy approaches players and managers like property - occupants come and go, but the value of bricks and mortar always grows.

Do you really expect anyone to believe Levy looked at last season where Ange awarded a whooping 7 mins to our academy players (the worst in the league obviously) and thought to himself, let me flood the squad with 18 year olds because the manager has clearly shown he's magic with the yout dem. Sure mate.

Not gonna be hoodwinked into believing Ange is hunting down these players either. Levy was explicitly clear that the club strategy going forwards was youth investment and no more "trophy managers" after Mourinho/Conte - he said that last year in the fan forum with Ange sat right next to him before he even managed his first game. Levy has assembled a whole new data driven team to execute on the plan and we're seeing it in action.

Ange likes to pose as Betty big bollocks, constantly reminding everyone that he has the final say in transfers, but that doesn't doesn't mean he's in control. Oh wow, you get to pick your poison, mate.

He's very bullish isn't he. The thing is if results go south the press and fans will turn and I wonder how he will react to it. He seems to have quite thin skin and gets his back up quite a lot with the media. It's all quite jokey but I can how he will get prickly if the pressure builds.
He started getting very prickly towards the back end of last season
