Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If that's the case, then why can't he just be a normal person when questioned.

He strikes me as massively prickly.

I get that journos ask very pointed (obvious) questions, to the point of giving the answer that they want within the questions they ask. But why not just say "yes, I'm disappointed we let in 2 identical goals through poor setup from set plays, and that's something we're working on", rather than "I just wanna score goals mate. Nothing else matters, mate. (Don't fucking question me you cunt, I'm the manager of Tottenham Hotspur don't you know you lowlife hack twat)"

He is actually beginning to rub me up the wrong way even if I generally like watching his football. Certainly after the last 5 years or so of dross that we've tolerated.

When are we talking about exactly?

Also, don't get me wrong, I think his general philosphy, as far as I understand it, is sound. I love the fact that we set up to try to beat every bunch of cunts who stand in front of us. For example if he'd have managed to pull off a victory against City toward the end of last season which helped the scum win the title I would not have moaned. I agree with him in that I don't understand not wanting to win a match. Win every match no matter the consequence as far as I'm concerned. But don't act like anything that is required to do so is below you. Or that you know better than every other being in the room.

I guess I'm just after a little more humility - at least until he's proven himself at this level.

Not specifically. Just a general feel I get from him in press conferences.

Although I'm pretty sure he did pooh pooh the idea we need to work on set piece defending at some point, when it was absolutely blindingly obvious we did actually need to.

I assume you are talking about last season? I think he did the right thing personally. Bat the media off, and do what you need to do on the training ground. The4y want him to say something so they can make a story of it.

As I said, it's already been highlighted in tactics posts on twitter (maybe been posted in here?) that we have changed our set piece strategy, so obviously they were working on it.

I think generally he handles the media pretty well. Not a facet of his I have much worry about TBH. I don't care if he's a prickly cunt sometimes either, it's when they start talking utter bollocks like Redknapp or Ten Hag - or even Poch at times - that I start getting twitchy.

Our predictability is something that, many of us have concerns over.
As you say, teams have worked us out and, if ange can't get the system working or doesn't have the players then, the system needs tinkering until it does.
But he seems determined to, carry on playing regardless even though, many of the teams are happy for us to have the ball because the threat posed by our attack is minimal.

If that's the case, then why can't he just be a normal person when questioned.

I hope he's very successful, but in a profession with big egos his is one of the largest.

I very much doubt that he wasn't well aware and trying to work on it all along.

There's already been some analysis posted up about how we have altered our mom and zonal marking at corners and also have done some different stuff from our own corners.

This.

It's quite obvious he didn't want to throw his coaching staff under the bus last season by saying they were basically rubbish at their job.

Hes re-assessed and now got new coaches working defensive set pieces as part of their calendar.

This was exactly the same at Celtic. First season, one of the worst set piece records because the importance is the style of play over anything else. Second season, best set piece record in the league.

And as ever with Ange. Whilst yes, in isolation the set pieces cost us games on paper. As per his philosophy, he'd still say that if we did our job offensively, the set pieces would have been the least of our worries because we'd have been 4-0 up anyway.

I am really surprised that the country in general have put up with the rubbish that you have called journalists. They are allowed to ask and print just about anything, no wonder Ange gets prickly! The only people who can try to take them to task over what they print or say are the ones with money!
(Profusely apologize for Murdoch, although he is a American now)

Cause it seems you're in one of 3 camps and they all wanna argue with eachother.
100% pro Ange
100% no Ange
NFI if he's the best or the worst

First two are like warring factions.
I think there are too many pro Ange and too many no Ange. I think there should be more of a balanced mentality amongst the fans. Give him time, will he succeed long term. Who knows…

What I do know is that the football has been good. The strategy/vision is there. The recruiting is much better. The culture in the club has improved.

I’d be worried if I was a Man United fan because they have none of the above…

Also it’s very rare to have 60 per cent possession and be creating chances and not have success. Generally talented teams that play this way end up succeeding. Sometimes it just takes time.

Ange keeps talking about how he's comfortable conceding goals because he feels the attacking style will be worth it overall, and it's fair to say that in the 3 games so far we have played well and controlled them better than last season despite the poor results. Performances in the round have been quite good and we have been unlucky with Solanke. But we have to start winning games consistently now, we are on a truly horrible run of results.

In our last 14 league games, going back to the defeat to Fulham on 16th March, we have lost 7 , drawn 2 and won just 5. The 5 wins were at home to Luton, Forest, Burnley and Everton and away at Sheffield United. That isn't acceptable, at the moment we can only beat the bottom feeders. We need to start winning matches away from home and winning matches against top half teams, that is not an unrealistic expectation considering the squad we have. Ange can defend his philosophy to the death but if it doesn't get us wins then it doesn't work.

The team does indeed need to find some consistency, the results have not been great for months.
Team has no chance of top four, unless they can put a run together and improve both away form against rivals.

Totally agree. I'm struggling why everyone cant see this. I mean he even admits it himself and full credit to him that he isnt hiding behind the give me 3 or 4 years approach. You cant just keep shouting 'project' and ignore results if your form over 14 (as you state) or even the last 30 games is midtable at best.

There seems to be many fans who, think that we are in a 4 or 5 year project
Unfortunately I doubt he will get that amount of time especially if, the results stay inconsistent as they have been.
Even Arteta, if he doesn't win the league this year, which I hope he doesn't, he probably won't be kept on by the gooner board.
There is too much money in the modern game that, gets list if the team only gets 8th or 9th place finishes.
Clubs were more forgiving back in the 70s, but not anymore, the big clubs, except Tottenham want success, ENIC only require CL for success.
