This is a player who scored 15 last year in seria A, who has played for argentina, who we payed 30 million for and is only 21!
So do you think his performances thus far for us has earned him the nod over our other wide players as a first team regular?
I like all our players, some more than others and I'm not saying Lamela is shit but what I am saying is he isn't mentally or physically capable of handling this league
yet and it seems like he's acknowledged that through the quotes from his dad.
Bottom line is we've already been through the faze of buying young talent, developing them and continue to do so.
Lamela should have been a first team starter but he hasn't proved or displayed enough to justify a first team position for us in the league and you don't spend £30mill on potential.
Bale, bought for £5mill sold for £85mill, Carrick, Huddlestone, Lennon, Rose, Walker, Naughton etc these are all examples of players purchased from other clubs, developed into first team regular, premier league players. That's what we did, when we brought Arneson in and what we had Alex Inglethorpe for between 2006-2012.
We are now trying to reap the rewards of that by using the fruits of this labour ie Townsend, Rose, Bentelab, Kane, Walker, Naughton into the first team fused with top top talent for us to compete at the top table which needs resources, big wages and the rest. Lamela's supposed to be one of the world class talent players yet our youth players seem more prepared for this league.
