If finishing second is enough to make you the second best coach. I guess it does make you the second best team.

If Ten Hag has won the second most trophies since he arrived, does that not make him the second best coach?

Football changes fast. Let's see how great he is at the end of this season.
Cup competition is different.

Showing you can consistently challenge is an altogether different matter.

Delusional.

Guy came second twice to a team with a virtually limitless budget and resources. Not sure what more he could do.

No one here likes legohead obviously but it's good to keep to a discussion that has a glancing relationship with reality.

The only thing I have an issue with atm is that we keep on with the quick one-dimensional wingers when we have no space for them to exploit, and the lack of realisation that Son simply does not fit the way he is currently played.

People wanting the likes of Conte back must be out of their f...ing minds. Let's have someone who wants to play attacking football, the Spurs way.

Leicester was a terrible first game were we did not take advantage of extreme dominance due to sloppy attacking play, in a game were we mostly played really well. Newcastle away and home to Woolwich are very difficult games, in which we deserved more than we got. It's ridiculous how people overreact to this start of the season.

The team needs to be given support so they can gain some confidence and start turning this around.

What is a worry for me lately is all his senior players are failing him. He can't get a tune out of Son or Maddison, Romero switching off lately, Biss And Bentancur will get themselves suspended if fit. Add to that Richarlison and Solanke injured and there's not a single player on the pitch that we can consistently rely on, maybe Van de Ven but that's because he is just a world class player in the making and no one could coach it out of him.

Mate I've not seen him smile since that City game, for me that game ended him.
He's going through the motions now picking up his wages and being a Levy yes man. It takes a winner like a Conte to walk out of a job through pride. This guy no longer gives a fuck believe it.
Conte didn't even walk and reigned back on his comments the next day...

he got sacked about 2 weeks later.

I really think the Ange’s tactics have unnerved a lot of our players. Whenever we have to make a decision on the ball the lads seem to be more worried about the consequences of giving it away (because of the huge spaces behind us) than they are about creating a chance to score. It leads to constant hesitation, dawdling and players passing sideways.

In those first 10 games, when opponents were surprised by us, we played with freedom. Now we seem to play with real fear after losing so many games and being roasted on the break so many times.

I think some small adjustments to our tactics can mitigate that. Do we really need both FBs to push high and invert, leaving our CBs with no passing options? Can we not drop our defensive line back 10 yards and give Son just a bit more space to run into? All managers are stubborn but the best ones also make adjustments when required. It’s clear our players can’t execute the current tactics the way Ange wants.

last 12 matches - 13 pts. FFS.

Wins against - hold your breath guys -

Forest (relegation fight)
Burnley (relegated)
Sheff Utd (relegated)
and - ooh - Everton.

FFS. You either get a tune out of these guys or you get the boot. We have a really good squad of players but you are playing to our weakness time after time.

They were playing for corners from the off. So would I, doesn't take a genius to work out we're crap there.

And then of course the WTF ARE WE DOING WITH THE SUBS MOMENT. Madz off and on comes...Werner.

He ought to have another 5 matches to save his skin but that depends more on is there anyone available who can take that rabble and get some coherence out of them.

A great manager?

Because he's finished second a couple times?

I don't care who is on the market that's better than him. Changing coaches isn't the problem solver that people think it is. Winning takes time, patience, conviction and belief. Or it takes massive financial doping a la Chelsea or City... and even then.

This club will never spend like that under these owners so it's going to be painful, disheartening and likely feel hopeless no matter what coach we have. AND, then when whichever coach we do have gets close, they will probably not give them what they need to really win because there is no evidence that they actually want to build any real expectation to win.
There's a chance it is.
Sticking with someone who is factually getting worse is guaranteed to end badly.
The players will lose faith and we'll go from games like today, to spankings. When that happens it's, to quote Aliens "game over man"

Come on.

We have some great players but Ange isn’t getting the best out of them and they are not playing to their potential.

I do think it will click but I’m disappointed that it hasn’t already and we’re capable of playing much better football.

We do have some good players but to win the big trophies, most of the time, you need the quality players and like some have said we are not willing to pay the wages for those players.

agree with a lot of that, but it is a big club. weve just backed this idiot with over 300m! the problem this club has is its run by idiots who dont know what they are doing and wasting the resources.

if youre a multi billionaire with an idea of how to actually run a football club then this club has huge potential. levy just cant get his recruitment right. 1 league cup in a quarter of a century is disgraceful, you cant put that down to bad luck. hes trying his best, of course he is, it benefits his pockets the more successful the club is, but the guys clearly fucking clueless.
Well put

Levy thinks he can pay 1/2 to 2/3 the wages of top clubs and compete. He’s wrong. The Poch three years were an aberration in that regard. And we still won fuck all
