I did notice that the goons have a new strategy of not impeding the keeper before the corner but once the corner is taken then two players rush over there and try and stop him moving. This is presumably to try and get around the new rule.

Dirty team.

Yes. Rush from a metre or two away, get between keeper and the landing zone of the corner coming across, then face away from the keeper, stand shoulder-to-shoulder and lean backwards. An effective two-man screen. If defenders manage to get between them and the keeper (as Madders and Micky did when we conceded vs Arse last week), it is still an effective screen, possibly more so because now there are 4 bodies in the way.

Interesting that Ederson decided to bump into the screeners and fall over, on both the goal and the previous corner. I guess he was testing the resolve of the Ref re the pre-season PGMOL statement that "the offence of holding (ie blocking or obstructing) will be penalised more stringently in set pieces, when an attacker is trying to stop the movement of an opponent"

It looks like the interpretation is still that if the attackers are relatively stationary and facing away from the keeper at the time of contact, it's not a foul. If that's the case then expect to see more teams employing this tactic from corners.

It's ugly football and personally I think the game would be improved if attackers were excluded from the 6 yard box until after the corner is kicked.

What’s even more annoying is the narrative around us is totally different to others. We apparently need a new goalie, one that’s “stronger”, where as City in this instance don’t, he’s perfectly fine lying on the ground on his goal line, he’s strong as an ox and City are unlucky to concede from 2 set pieces in one game, where Spurs are an absolute joke at conceding from one (whilst having their defender fouled) all season.

The coverage of the game is nauseating. Praise for Woolwich for what was just blatant cheating. Praise for tactical genius that consisted of putting 10 players in their own box.

If for the third time the title race is down these two teams (touch wood), we will see even worse arse licking from the media and pundits. Because suddenly everyone is seemingly so righteous over the 115 charges laid on Citeh. We can be absolutely sure the PGMOL and the League will do their best to hand the scum any advantages whatsoever. They will become the darling of all, not that they haven't already.

Fucking loving it in here today.

Just wondering how some can type with the tears hitting the keyboard.

How bad did that hurt ?

It's a broken record by now, but IMO they're one of the dirtiest teams in English football, but because they're the media darlings they NEVER get called out on it, the most we see is vague mentions of "dark arts".

Imagine if we did the same, there'd be wall to wall coverage of it in the the football media.

Apologies for the third post in a row....

However, Oliver seems to be the one they use to try and help keep the narrative going. See Davies not initially getting the penalty for us against them. Then on the last day he allows a goal for them v Everton which on any other day would 99 out of 100 times be disallowed, but because last day drama has to be preserved it is allowed. A bit tin foil hat, but he used to do it to Liverpool too.
