Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Here we go again, we all know what's coming...
One or two second or third rate players that won't be good enough ..
Just like every other window, that is just how things are at this club

Send Werner back and get an upgrade at forward. Not going to happen but would be nice.

Hopefully we're in a better spot by then with Son, Odobert and Richy also back.

Otherwise I don't see much more we can without outgoings. We had to leave players out of the EL squad as it is so who is being sold to make room?

They might do with Davies and Forster what they did with Lloris, Dier and Perisic last January. Both have 6 months of their contracts left, Davies not even on the bench for league games now. Get rid of Werner and Reggie as well.

Son, who has lost so much form because of age and the system, Odebert who is totally unproven and Richy who most fans think is rubbish. Someone is very optimistic

Good player - but are we going to buy another young winger when we already have :
- Mikey Moore (left wing/right wing) Age 17
- Wilson Odobert (left/right winger) Age 19
- Wang Min-hyuk (left/right winger) Age 18
- Luca Williams- Barnett (No10/winger) Age 16
The thing is, Dibling is left-footed, and Spurs need at least one left-footed option out wide.
It's far to early to say whether Yang and Williams-Barnett will even make it to the EPL, and if they do I expect it to take 1-2-3 seasons more.
Of course, one may say that it's too early to predict Dibling's career trajectory, too, but at least he's an EPL regular.

EPL regular might be stretching it - he's made 7 appearances in PL, first one being mid August. And just to put that into perspective, Alton Thelwell made his debut alongside Ledley King and actually looked the better of the two players for a couple of games, before King's class shone through ...... and Thelwell made in total about 18 appearances (more than double number of PL appearances Dibling has made) before moving on from Spurs.

So I'd suggest Dibling looks a very good player but he's far from PL proven, and its not certain he'll get there - although I hope all players will, its just I know many will not like Thelwell getting so near but not close enough.

I've no idea how to compare Yang's 30+ appearances in K League to 7 PL appearances , and how quickly Yang will adapt to PL - and I guess we'll only find that out once he arrives.

Odobert has 32 PL appearances and similar in French top division experience behind him, so far more experienced than Dibling. Moore is much more similar to Dibling in terms of playing experience ...... but a year younger, and 16 year old Williams-Barnett a year younger than Moore but started in u18's taking them by storm as did Moore a year ago so potentially could follow Moore's trajectory if we are lucky.

So I go back to where I started - Dibling is a good young player but he wouldn't be top of my list of positions to fill, but January can be a funny market and if there are no good LB's, GK's available he wouldn't be a bad purchase, its just we've got a few players broadly similar to him already

Son, Moore, Odobert, Werner and Yang are all LWs. It's a RW we need.
cant odobert play both? son should also be able to do both, id actually think son would be a better right sided winger now as hes good enough at cutting in and shooting with his left anyway, and being on the right it should be easier for him to actually take the ball deeper and put a cross in now. he doesnt want to do that on the left because all he wants to do is cut in to shoot from the edge of the box.

Odobert, Moore and indeed Wang can all play LW and RW.

My prediction (probably summer though)

Kevin de Bruyne moves to the Middle East

Dejan Kulusevski joins Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

Son is going on 33 and not suited to Angeball. He is predominantly right footed but has scored over 40 goals with his left foot. His career is coming to a close soon.Werner will be gone next year. Moore is mainly right footed and Ange prefers low crosses into the box so right side benefits him. Johnson is right footed. Odebert is two footed. Son and Werner both going in the near future and that leaves us with Johnson on the right, Moore who would be more utilised on the right , Odebert who can play both sides and a young S.Korean lad. I should think left wing is more important .
