At half time we looked like we would be getting another 3 points which would have put us above our average points after 7 games and would have been out 8th best start over those 16 years. 2013 we got our best ever points total and only had 4 points more than we do now. Our highest finish we only had 2 points more than we do now. Obviously it's not been a good start but we have probably deserved more points than we got based off performances. It's hardly disastrous though.

Just reported you to admin for trolling, didn't think we were allowed to use rationale or context in here.

You will be hearing from my lawyers as well.

1 more loss after 5 wins in a row and we’re having a conversation about sacking the manager? I think we should be poking at the big picture on this one. Remember Klopp missed top 4 a number of years and there was never talk about sacking him. What is the issue with giving a manager 2-3 full seasons?
Klopp finished 4th in his first full season getting 76 pts. Other examples Emery finished 4th in his first full season. With us Redknapp in his first full season, Poch in his second.

Yes, we lose to West Ham i think his job is hanging by a thread. We'd probably be 12th, 10 pts from 8 matches. 4 defeats from 8 this season. 9 league defeats from 15 overall.

We'd have failed to beat Woolwich, Chelsea and West Ham in 8 attempts. We've sacked pretty much every manager over 24 years for similar or on quite a few occasions less.

I don't see that post as racist. I think he's absolutely right. They follow Ange/ Son and will not follow the team without them. Why is that racist? It doesn't put these people down...
It wasn't racist, mate.
Don’t feed the trolls, though. They'll use any tactic they can to try and smear and antagonise any critical voices they don't approve of. See above.

How can it be over reacting if it's factually correct?

I mean, thanks for taking the time and trouble to prove my point and all but when you see it laid down like that it just makes it even more startling.

This is a perfect examlple of everyone's confirmation bias including mine.

Many see that list and see it as less startling, many see it as more.

ultimately, if we are being honest, it's neither.

It's 7 games - we will be judged by our points total at the end of the season - not now.

Not a single person could have looked at the points totals of any previous year at this stage and given an accurate prediction of where we would be after 38.

This I agree with - The capitulation at Brighton has tested everyone's patience. But, I'm willing to give Ange an opportunity to turn it around - learn from it, and push on.

Saying that, losing to West Ham will be the beginning of the end for sure.

To counter that, some of that better form above has seen AVB, Poch and Nuno sacked in November/December. AVB and Nuno were 8th and still in Europe and the league cup when sacked. I really dont see it as a hot take that if we dont improve and become more difficult to beat then this will end the same way. We've now got a pretty friendly run of 4 league fixtures to show more consistancy.

Does he though — defenders?
Depends on the criteria.

Offensively probably yes. Romero's pass selection and press resistance, Porro's energy and confidence, Udogie's ball skills, and van de Ven's drives are all assets.

Defensively we have the fastest cover defender in the league / world, and Romero is generally good at stepping up / snuffing out, so our cover defence is pretty good. But box defence once everyone is settled is pretty average I would say. This season we've conceded 8 goals from 132 touches in our defensive penalty area, one every 16.5 touches. The average across the league is one every 18.3; we rank 13th, just ahead of Southampton. And it's not like a lot of our goals conceded this season were with defence caught on the counter.

The Brighton result was so bad because it destroyed the trust that had been built over recent matches. I think most would admit that our general play is much improved compared to last season but the way we have thrown points away at Leicester, Newcastle and Brighton is infuriating and humiliating.

Both Ange and the players deserve major stick for not being able to manage the game and collapsing but they also deserve credit for the near flawless first half. It’s resolving that inconsistency which is the toughest challenge, Conte was ranting about us being “up and down” towards the end and I’m sure Ange did the same behind closed doors.

Whether he can fix it, we’ll just have to see. This is where our transfer strategy will hurt us, because we don’t buy experienced players we don’t have the proper resilience in the team. Once Udogie and VDV shat themselves on that first goal the panic took over the entire team.

I get managers have their favourites to an extent but Ange shows it to an absolute ridiculous level.

Last season Maddison absolutely stank up the place for months and Ange refused to drop him, refused to try him in a different role (well except against City where Ange was absolutely dying to win that game) and just hoped he would eventually come good. Same with Romero this season where he's allowed to continuously stink the place up with shower of shit performances with no consequences to these performance.

Players like Sarr and Bissouma on tbe other hand get dropped with immediate effect. Bissouma was actually one of our best players when he's played but Ange suddenly decides he prefers Bentancur.

Bissouma was cack when he came on though and lucky not to concede a penalty, he is not some mentality monster. He’s just as flaky as the rest of them.

But I do agree that he should have come on earlier because Bentancur was having a stinker.

Lastly, please stop taking everything he says so literally. The cunts who shove a mic in his face after the game annoy the fuck out of me. How annoyed do you think he is after a loss to have to answer shit questions which are none of anyone's business. I completely understand he just wants to mug them off and get the fuck out of there. In the press conferences where he is behind the desk you see him calm, relaxed, jovial and insightful, for like 30 minutes. But of course everyone picks on his quick comments when he is at his most pissed off and judge him.
Part of his job (for which he is very well paid) is to answer those shit questions. Easy to turn on the campfire chat vibes when you've got a captive audience but he doesn't seem to do very well when people start to answer tough (or plain stupid) questions, he almost seems to be affronted that people might have a different take on situations.
