Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

My instinct is the same as others.. That he's got to be protected etc.. But really isn't that kind of a myth? I can't think of a player that "should" have been elite, but didn't become so because he played too much when he was 17/18. I just think you've either got it to go all the way or you don't. If Mikey Moore has "it". Then him becoming a big part of our squad at a young age isn't going to ruin him.

Michael Owen, Jack Wilshere.

There's summit about this photo of him last night that gives me real early '80s Ossie Ardiles & Mickey Hazard vibes....

I think it's the grace he shows whilst looking - gravitationally speaking - like he should be off balance...

Low centre of gravity in Ossie and Hazard's case, 'cos they were slight... But Moore gives off the same tricky winger vibes, whilst being significantly taller...
Let's hope he has as much joy at Spurs as Ossie & the other Mickey!!

I would have half a dozen of the posters on here starting before Werner now.

Why are we compromising the team and progress of arguably our best young talent to give Werner game time - it’s insane. Moore Moore Moore please

Odobert did more in 3 mins than Werner produced. Incredibly frustrating watching Werner get more Minutes than Mikey, make I make sense Ange
Ange's hand had been somewhat forced recently with the injuries to Odobert, Richy and Son. It's too early to start Moore in the PL.

He has also signed Werner twice now so probably felt a need to back his man.

But hooking him at HT surely signals the end for Werner at Spurs. He should arguably be 5th choice at LW now.

Yang coming in soon too.

Michael Owen?

Had a decent career and played for a lot of big clubs, but he could've been one of the greatest.
Agreed

Michael Owen was overplayed by Liverpool when young, he started playing most games Liverpool played aged 18.

Pretty much washed up aged 24 or 25, moving to playing a kind of AM role (but not looking more than an average player) as he'd lost the electric pace and other skills to play as striker.

Probably plenty of examples on both sides of that debate, Milner started getting minutes at 16, started his first Prem game a month after he turned 17 and started almost every game the following season for Leeds in the Prem and still playing this season at 38. I'm sure the club have all the data needed to make the best decision for him long term but also need a fair amount of luck.

Guess my concern on being protected primarily comes from how Michael Owen’s career went but can’t currently think of any others so hoping you’re right - be great to see much much more of him. He’s genuinely exciting to watch which we’ve really missed.

Plenty who's longevity is questioned due to to much football too soon. Wheelchair for example.

Can never say for sure but that's what people are talking about when saying protected

Reminds me a bit of myself at 17 when I was playing in the Harrow Sunday League , we played in white shorts as well

Pretty much washed up aged 24 or 25, moving to playing a kind of AM role (but not looking more than an average player) as he'd lost the electric pace and other skills to play as striker.

Owen moved to Madrid when he was 24, and was still scoring better than 1 in 3 at Newcastle when he returned to the UK (he left Newcastle when he was 30ish). He wasn't the player he was in his early days, but I think the injuries combined with escalating interest in horse racing were the main factors.

Does it matter that much if a players prime is 18-25 or 23-30? Arguably for the player they will attract more attention (and higher wages) if they're seen as a wonderkid.

I think a big factor to consider with Owen was that he was setting all kinds of records at nearly every youth level. He scored 97 goals in one season at 10yrs old.

If Mikey and the club decide that he's physically and mentally ready for first team action then I'd be happy to see him get more starts. However, I think he's getting a little too much hype today based on a few good runs / passes last night.

Not good news if so but you would think Moore is second choice LW right now with Odobert and Richy just coming back from injury.

Ange would be crazy to start Werner again.
It has to be Moore. Probably more likely to see a cameo from Werner off the bench now though.

I was hoping he could sit out the next few weeks. I genuinely think the lad just needs a break to get his head right
