IIRC Owen had a very significant hamstring injury that wasn’t treated correctly (should have had corrective surgery like Kane) as it would be in today’s game.
Hampered his career significantly post-injury.

Mikey Moore's second-half performance last night made me feel like we won 4-0. We haven't seen that kind of aggression and tenacity in a winger for years. I'm suddenly getting flashbacks of Bale v Maicon.
A big part of him being "managed smartly" is shielding him from pressure and expectation...... And crucial to that is what the manager says to him prior to k/o about where and when he's playing and what he wants from him.
As for LW/RW specifically; I assume Ange just views him as more versatile than Werner..... The one time we played Werner on the right he was truly dreadful.
In terms of not being overplayed at a young age...... Some here would have him snowball into playing twice a week off of a performance like the 2nd half last night. Once again; a lot of people are missing the whole point of the Werner loan; which was to facilitate this very careful and deliberate approach to breaking Mikey in the best way possible...... Managing him smartly means that despite Werner under-delivering; it doesn't automatically dictate that we should stray from the plans we have mapped out for Moore. We should keep our eyes on the bigger picture with Mikey; not the short-term gratification of wonderkid-ism.
Simple fact is now Odobert is back; we'll see MUCH less of Werner.

I do celebrate it. Can't wait to see more. What bugs me is how people use the bright young player to trash our current players. It's pretty normal for a young player to look bright and fearless and I enjoy it as much as any. But the whole "already a better player than X" thing gets repeated ad nauseam and it's just stupid. And just by the numbers, it usually doesn't work out that way.
I do see his talent. He's 17 and definitely looks ready to play at the senior level which is special in itself. But I think it's a disservice to him and players like Johnson to say he's "already better." It takes a lot to be a top footballer. There is a lot of ups and downs and how you respond to those.

I think when people say "better" they mainly refer to technical ability and that is completely unrelated to age.
Moore clearly is a much more technically gifted player than Werner. Whether he goes on to score the goals Werner did and command transfer fees of 50m+ is dependent on a lot more factors.
You can see if players have got the technical ability or not when they're at this stage, and clearly this kid has the technical ability.
What's also very promising is he doesn't seem to have to rely on pace nor does he seem overly blessed with pace which speaks to how good he must be technically to be training and playing with the first team at this age without obvious physical talents bar his height.

For all his lovely, mazy runs it's his passing/positioning that has impressed me most. Almost every ball is weighted to perfection and he's always in the right area.
It's quite a rare combination to have, especially at 17.
Indicative of him not relying on physical talents growing up. But as Kulu has shown, you can still be a very effective dribbler without searing pace.

Bale really was freakish. It felt like he was regularly injured and yet did so much. Amazing.
On Moore, there seems to be a real and definitive buzz.
The last time it felt like this for us was with Bale, because Alli took everyone by surprise.
No trajectory is ever without a hiccup, so we shall see how Moore goes, but little doubt he has now arrived.
