Match Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City, 20:15 GMT, Wednesday 30th October. League Cup Round of 16

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It’s this or the fa cup to try and get anything from the season. Obviously we need a lot of luck with the draw.
It will be city’s second string side which is still better than our first team , but we do tend to do ok against these at home. We just need to give it everything like it’s the cup final itself

Needs to be our strongest team possible

I just hope we get our developing players some good game time and don’t suffer any long-term injuries.

I don’t care much about this game if we can’t beat the likes of Crystal Palace, orienting your team selection to try and win games like this when you can’t even beat the bottom of the league is a misapplication of available resources to reasonably likely points and a sign of a unrealistic, overambitious manager.

Werner - Solanke - Odobert
Sarr - Kulu
Bentancur
VDV - Drag - Romero - Porro
Vic
Udogie needs a rest and I don't fancy Davies there.
Sarr and Bentancur should get a chance from the start.
Wouldn't mind Johnson getting some bench time as he's faded back to early season form in the last few games.

No expectations for this one but there will be an opportunity to progress if City do play the kids.

Well... this game be this game.
Even if we lose, "tough draw" and "City is City"...

I am much more worried for the next.

Aston Villa at home.
Emery has exactly 0 minutes prep time needed for that.
Knows exactly how we'll approach it. Packs the defense, sits the side deep, soaks up the pressure.
Then they go on to score 2 or 3 in the counter and by final whistle we just shrug and go "Well, tough result really. I feel we deserved more from the game. We controlled the tempo, we controlled the game, but you know. It's football. We did not do enough today and it is on me to come up with solutions for next games".
And we'll be sitting 8 points behind Villa after just 10 games of the season. And with Chelsea also 4-7 points ahead of us, TOP4 finish seeming already very difficult. After less than 25% of the season being completed.

It's the first time in a couple of years that we've got past the early rounds. We're one away from the last 8.

I hope we take this seriously. I'll take a league defeat to Palace if it means we beat City and go through to the next round of the cup.
