Guessing we will see a different, better shaped Utd but home advantage is a big thing and I back us to go through. Thought we set up a bit deeper than usual tonight which pleased me and it seemed to work allowing us to control the game better even though City had more of the possession.

COYS!

The dead cat bounce will be over by then. Nistelrooy isn’t a wizard, they are still an average team with some poor players.

Last time we won the League Cup we had to beat Man City, Woolwich, and Chelsea. We've literally beaten the best team in the competition already. I'd put us as slight favourites against United at home, but I put us as underdogs for City at home so who knows. On paper it is better than Liverpool or Woolwich.

TBF, City were shit then.

:sonlol:

Nah. We went down to ten men after twenty minutes and did well defensively. I think they had Sven and Elano so could still damage us. One of the first Spurs games I went to in the early 2000s was against a newly promoted Man City and they beat us at home. I guess my point is we were also shit against them in the league.

Yeah, we were both mid-table shit. My point was just that "beat City" didn't carry much weight then.

We did beat 2 of the top 3 PL clubs on that run, though, so it was quite good still.

My point is it did carry some weight at the time. We weren't favourites against Man City away and they were on the rise. Players like Richards and Hart etc. still ended up winning the league and FA Cup with them a couple of years later.
