Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That's what I think as well.

Conte had things trending in the right direction. He only takes over in November, we finish fourth, and third in wins. Not everything was great but this was all after a dreadful start.

The final 16 matches, starting with the 3-2 win away at City, were winners of 11 and only 3 defeats. The bow was tied on the finish by Woolwich being routed off and we're in the CL places.

That was the best feeling stretch and the best moment since the Poch era, for me anyway.
Yeah same. The top under Mourinho and start of last season both felt like houses built on sand, just a temporary blip. That spell under Conte felt sustainable and at the business end of a season. Beating City, Woolwich, drawing at Anfield when Liverpool were flying, we looked great. Only period i've felt really enthusiastic about since Feb/March 2019.

Conte is a top manager, that was never in doubt.

It went wrong here for the same reason it always goes wrong, Levy didn't match his ambition in the market. Of course there were many unfortunate circumstances during the 2nd Conte season like the mid-season WC, several friends dying, his illness etc, but you cannot hire a manager like Conte and give him Lenglet on loan when he asked for Bastoni. That kind of nonsense lit the fuse and it was only a matter of time before he exploded. He asked for a top player and was given a donkey.

To succeed with Conte you need complete commitment from the entire club, otherwise he will go off like a nuclear bomb. If the chairman wasn't willing to give that commitment, no point hiring him. I think Levy thought signing Perisic on a free and a big salary would be enough to placate him, which was absurd. We needed so much more.

He's a good coach but he could walk Serie A this season and I wouldn't miss him one bit.

Can you imagine the outrage on here if we were linked with Lukaku, McTominay and Gilmour?

Honestly if he wins a Scudetto with those three it'll be a great accomplishment but it will also say a lot about the quality of Serie A.

It would also say a lot about how little most fans understand football. The reputations and price tags on the shirt aren't the most important thing, it's the qualities of the players and the overall team cohesion that matter.

Would you have been happy with signing Lukaku,Mctominay and Gilmour when he was here? I very much doubt it.

You'd probably be saying what you said above about how the club gave him Lenglet and Perisic as if he didn't want them. Those are the types of players Conte likes.

A 1 game a week Conte is dangerous, will probably win the league this season but it will come crashing down next season when expectations raise and they have CL football.

It's way to early to say he'll probably win Serie A. Inter haven't been at the races but they will probably kick on soon.

This is a team that went 28 games unbeaten last season.

The Conte era destroyed my excitement for football so much it still lingers now.

Whilst he did well to claw a top 4 finish, a top 4 finish means very little to me, especially when our last Champions League exit is probably the most pathetic attempt from a Spurs side I have ever seen.
This hatred for Conte era is hilarious tbf, we played pretty good football for half a year and then pretty shit football for another half a year or so. I would say I’ve watched worse football under Mourinho and I’ve also watched some really sterile games under Postecoglou, although maybe less frequently.

But that UCL exit, not sure what’s so pathetic about it. I mean Milan is not some third division club or coming from an obscure league, they’ve a lot of history in the competition and that’s what Conte said too iirc.

It was pathetic because we were 1-0 down playing at home and showed he had no intention of trying to win that game.

He’s a cunt but I don’t dislike him as much as Jose. He was an even bigger cunt.
I don’t care what he does either tbh, I always liked what he said about Spurs. It was the truth and it needed saying. If some fannies were butt-hurt hearing it, then fuck them.

I don't want a manager here who is so toxic in his demeanour that our fans latch on to it and start booing our own players.

Hisrants and attitude weren't inspiring or helpful. It was all self-serving and clearly didn't achieve what he wanted to. He should have focussed on the football and lifting the fans and players up, not setting them up to fail.

Sanchez, Emerson

OK Stellini, you crack on.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. Football under Ange has been about a billion times more entertaining than under Conte.

Anyone who tries to argue otherwise should be boiled in their own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through their heart.

Oh yeah, we never looked pathetic under a manager before when we shouldn’t have to.
So now you’re admitting that it was pathetic?

It’s not just that, there was literally no intent to even try and go for a goal. Even though we were already one nil down and had nothing to lose. He should’ve instructed the team to go for it. And we know it was down to him because he made that ridiculous sub to bring on Sanchez when we were meant to be chasing the game.

But I didn’t deny it wasn’t, I was just questioning why that performance made fans hate Conte when we had plenty of performances like that before under different managers.
And we know it was down to him because he made that ridiculous sub to bring on Sanchez when we were meant to be chasing the game.
Wasn’t Sanchez subbed in like the last mins of the game because we had one man sent off?

Because it was a champions league game where there was no reason not to go for it when you’re at home and already a goal down. He didn’t even seem like he was trying to win the game.

There was really no excuse for that sub. It was the last minutes and we needed a goal. It’s not the time for a defensive sub. It literally would not matter if they caught us on the break and scored.
