Match Premier League - Home to Aston Villa - 03/11 - 2pm KO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We scored from a direct free kick, when did that last happen?
I think Harry Winks vs Morecambe might be our last direct free kick all comps in Jan 2022.

I think Son vs Watford might be the last direct one in the league in 2021 in Aug 2021.

Both clearly crosses!

Last intentional direct one is probably Lucas Moura vs Marine in Jan 2021.

Villa were a disgrace all game, defensive, boring, timewasting football.
Strategically speaking, I thought they played well in the first half. It might have been defensive and a bit drab but they were stifling our momentum and frustrating us no end. Their goal was a poke in the eye.

The second half was a totally different story. Absolutely rolled them over in the most magnificent way. 4-d chess moves from Ange.

Their 442 with no real wingers shit is hard fucking work.

Good game from Ange today.

They genuinely have designs on being 'bigger / better' than us, they showed no more ambition on the pitch than the various smash and grabs we've endured from recently promoted / soon to be relegated teams.

I'm at page 62 of the match day thread; it's 3:23pm... at halftime we were the worst Spurs team in history. Villa have the greatest manager ever while most seem to want ours sacked.

An early equaliser has cheered the match thread up but now Ange has subbed Son for Richarlison and every has agreed all the momentum has gone and Ange is a war criminal.

The game is on a knife edge... I wonder what happens next...

I took a quick peek at this thread at halftime, I honestly thought I was at a different game, as how I saw it was a million miles apart from a lot of the comments on here.

What's the actual point of Solanke. He offers absolutely nothing
Seriously? I know you posted that at 2.47pm, so let's ignore today's 2nd half and look instead at the games he's played for us so far, where he has shown:

- coming deep to link up the play, then getting in the box for the final ball
- winning lots of useful free kicks by putting his body between opponent and ball, particularly when we're under pressure, a la Kane
- intelligent reading and passing, for example to where a player will be when the ball arrives, not where he is now (something that annoys me about many of our players), and with appropriate weight
- monstrous pressing

How on earth has anyone who has seen Solanke play this season not recognised what a huge asset he will be (and already is)? Mind-boggling... :/

Bloody brilliant post. Just outstanding.

Anyone whose been watching our games would simply have to agree with you on all this.

The first half wasn’t bad, just very frustrating.

Palace was bad. They bullied us, won everything and we were awful on the ball. But today we were working hard; it just looked like one of those games where a cynical side might do a number on us.

That’s why the single most important moment of the game was Sonny’s cross.
