Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

18 months into a managers reign and we're calling for his head, where have I seen this before?

Hey, maybe the next manager who will be written off from the start, and slagged off as soon as we lose a couple of games will work? We certainly have the patient fanbase for it :ange-facepalm2:

I am very selective on watching football blogs so I dip in and out (I did persevere with Comedy yesterday as I wanted to see what the club spin would be).
Watching the 3 Stooges and the bloke in the middle is saying he has a contact at Ipswich and before the game they really fancied it. They played like they did and thoroughly deserved the win.
Dont blame them in fancying it. They have a really good coach who obviously knows our one trick and ways of countering it. Basically any oppo that is a bit agressive, run hard, niggle us and exploit our full back positions stand a great chance of beating us.

You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince.
For every Jol, Redknapp and Poch there are toads like AVB that need to be thrown back in the pond ASAP.
Ange looks a bit toad like to me.

What success did we get from those 3 'princes'? Top 4 finishes and a cup final? As soon as it got rough we sacked them?

Rinse and repeat.

I hate to bring up Woolwich, but they stuck by Paella Pulis when he lost 9 in 10 (something like that) and our now reaping the rewards of that because they have an identity, they are competing and signing/holding onto top players. We don't have that patience as a fanbase, and until we do we'll be back in this situation in 18 months time.

It’s funny how peoples opinions change over time about players.

2017/18 we finished 3rd.

Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier started 29 and 32 league games. Ben Davies 26.

These days call those three players top 4 quality and you get laughed at.

Comparable players in our current squad. Dragusin, Ben Davies!!, Bissouma or Sarr?

And we have Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive claiming that Fazio, DeAndre Yedlin and Stambouli are a higher calibre of player than what we are signing now.

It's nearly as if people will say anything as long as it fits into their agenda.

Also, everyone was laughing at them for calling for his head so soon.

We have so many fans that are like this.

Cry out that Dier is shit.. Now I'm seeing them claim he's better than Dragusin and we should have kept him. Same with Lamela and Sanchez. It's embarrassing.

Like I get it - emotion makes you say dumb stuff sometimes - but at least be grown up enough to admit you're chatting shit when you get called out for it.

I think post Poch having imploded with Conte and Jose and sacking Nuno after ten games we are as attractive as a naked Anne Widdecombe to any decent coach . It’s partly why Ange got the gig , I have accepted nothing changes until the ownership does . History proves this , everyone fails under ENIC it seems , changing the manager means :

1 ) Paying off Ange
2) Hoping to find an unemployed replacement or paying compensation to his current club
3) Trying to sell the players he does not want for more than they are worth
4) Buying the cheap version or teenage versions of the players he wants in
5) Releasing a vomit inducing video of Levy explaining how this time will be different
6) Continuing with paying uncompetitive salaries thus not signing the best talent
7) It not working and sacking Ange’s replacement

What’s the point in any of the above happening again and again

It’s not about patience as a fanbase, most Arse fans wanted Arteta out. The board just stuck by their guns and carried on, there is no reason why we can’t. We have even sacked managers that the fans love like Jol, Redknapp and Poch. The fans are mostly irrelavant or would be irrelevant if the board truly back the manager.

Levy will sack if he feels he needs to. It might be financial or he might think the fans aren’t for the current manager or he might have an alternative lined up. Either way it will be the boards choice.

He said that the calibre of player we were buying 10 years ago was higher than it is now.

10 years ago - in the 2014/15 season we bought Fazio, Stambouli, De Andre Yedlin, Dier, Davies and Alli

He’s on LSD.
I need some of this high quality acid.

VDV v Fazio???

And
Solanke must have cost more than all of those players combined and has just scored 20 odd premier league goals in one season. At a lower table club.
A proven PL striker in his prime. Or a kid from Portugal and one from Milton Keynes!

It’s a crazy world we live in.

The worst run they had was 1 year exactly into his tenure, they lost 7 of 10. But he then turned it around and they won 8 of their last 12 that season. That latter period is the timeframe we're now at with Ange, roughly 16 months. Arteta had also won an FA Cup which i imagine, along with empty stadiums, bought him that time.

It's a fair point though, you're just following your own agenda as well. Alli and Dier were signed in that same window and were key to our surge under Poch.

Fazio and Yedlin are of a similar standard to Dragusin and Spence if we're objective about it. Stambouli was pretty mediocre but we're hardly immune to that anymore e.g. Solomon, Werner.

The point is we're still pretty much fishing in the same pond and I would say our big signings now are no better than before - the likes of Van der Ven, Maddison and Solanke are very good players, but so were Van der Vaart, Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele, Alderweireld, Wanyama.

We've been on a plateau for a long time. The increased revenue is just feeding transfer fee inflation at best.

Not going to disagree with any of that, the rot starts from the top.

On your point about the players stealing a living - this is something that has been handled so poorly over the last few years. Levy needs to accept a loss on a player (even an expensive one) much quicker.

We have the likes of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Dier etc who stink up the place for years, with Levy seemingly waiting for them to become magically good under a new manager.

That's not how a big club serious about winning things behaves - there's a lack of focus and ruthlessness needed to be a top team.
If Levy was Levy's boss, he'd have sacked him ages ago.

It ain't just a lack of focus and ruthlessness, my friend. We'd be laughing if it was just that. You can't be more out of your depth as a chairman than that muppet, it's impossible.

How anyone can still defend him is pure madness. Obviously I'm not including his paid stooges in that.

But they win nothing. And that is what's most important. Stop acting like they are a successful side.

Let's say we win The Carabo Cup and The EL Cup and finish 10th in the prem. Do we keep Ange or bin him?
Have you seen enough to suggest that will happen. I personally haven't and don't think that'll be the case. If however that did happen it'd be impossible to sack him as I've barely seen us lift anything so to lift 2 trophies in 1 season would be a remarkable feat.
