It does differ from country to country. And an important difference is how each country trains/educates their referees.Maybe people can share their thoughts but I honestly think the European games are “reffed” so much better than EPL.. I feel like there is less acting and the refs don’t seem to fall for as much shit as they do in the league? Or is it that there is more knockout vibes to these comps so players aren’t conning as much? I dunno, I feel European refs are waaaay better
Let's compare England and Germany for example. England's refereeing course is 5 90 minute online lessons and 11 hours total of physical lessons. That evens out to around 20 ish hours of training max before you start reffing.
FA Referee Course
The FA Referee Course provides the introduction to officiating in football.
Germany's version has that as the minimum time of required training/lessons. But it can go up to 50 hours. And they also require you to take part in further training every year. England may also require that but it is not listed on their website what I can see.
