Our injury record since Ange took over is impressive. Wonder if there’s any numbers on average players out pre and post Ange.

First season same thing despite ONE competition all season long. And now we already have Porro & co resembling marathon runners at the end of the line.

We’re absolutely fucked if we do this till the end of the season and actually go deep in the cups. It’ll be like a hospital.

Wtf are we doing in training & for recovery?!
When we bought solanke, he didn't miss a single game last season for them, comes to spurs injured a couple of times.

That wasn't what you said though, you said no Prem manager looks to the future.

The above is a different kettle of fish. To be fair though, Slott has done that this season with his right back against RM. Brighton did it with Ferguson. Both have proven they're good, but both are still youth products. Curtis Jones was blooded by Klopp, along with the twat who ridiculed Kane. Guardiola has done it...

They all do it to an extent, and not only with "outstanding youth products."

Slot did that because TAA was coming back from injury. Not because he wanted to develop youth. Mate, the second Ferguson stopped bagging, a 30 odd year old Welbeck has started basically every game. Curtis Jones got lots of game time because FSG are tightfists and he's a worker who has developed over numerous years. These are all perfect examples of circumstantial uses of young talent. This isn't coaches going "Hmm this guy could be awesome in five years, better develop him!' - doesn't happen, they focus game to game.

Guardiola has done it? Fucking WHEN? Other than when he had a young Leo Messi or when he has absolutely no choice like with Rico Lewis due to injuries.

Managers do it when they think the youth player will do a better job than the senior they're replacing. They don't do it out of idealism like fans want, or because they want to develop the future project. Because premier league coaches don't have the luxury of focusing on the future.

I'd fucking love to see England Men vs England women once a year.
hulk smash GIF

Puny women.
The difference in pace make this match impossible.
Unless there is no offside for the ladies.

I think he doesn’t need to rotate, none of the top teams rotate their CL and Prem sides - Salah and Odegaard play regardless - Odegaard got injured on international duty in the end and it had nothing to do with tiredness.

Just go with your strongest side.

Solanke dropping out at short notice meant he had to add an attacking player at short notice - but still didn’t pick Kulu.

It’s definitely a case of overthinking - just play the strongest team, injuries will happen regardless and we will adapt if they do. By resting, your just cutting down the amount of time your best players are out on the pitch
Porro is so done in by playing almost every single minute of every single match he looked like he was running through treacle on Sunday.

He really needs to be rotated out just for one single game otherwise on Sunday he's going to be as much use down that right hand side as a cardboard cutout

Joe Gomez was available. You stated that no manager would choose a youth prospect over an experienced player (I'm paraphrasing there).

Indeed, but Ferguson was played until he stopped bagging them. Point stands, he was a youth player given his shot.

You're not too familiar with coaches and coaching then, that's precisely how they think.

Oscar Bobb, James McAtee, Wilson Esbrand. Foden was included in the squad in 2016, Palmer was given a shot. Exceptionally talented, but all given a taste of first team Football with an eye to the future.

Far too simplistic. Youth players may get their shots a little earlier than expected, should injury force the Coaches hand, but they're brought into the squad in the first place to integrate them and give them a feel for first team Football. They're literally doing that with a view to the future. Some have more luxury to do it than others, but all do it to greater or lesser extents.

Last season Ange did say it gets better in the second season. 3 hamstrings already . He is running some of these players into the ground.

In years gone by, I think the Ropey league was actually more taxing on players than the CL. The fixtures were often away in the arse end of nowhere, with long, arduous trips to the likes of Uzbekistan.
I do love how supporters tend to obviously think our players travel by cab and ferry or something.

London to Baku is a 5.5 flight. It's long, but not "arduous" - especially when you're flying in posh 1st class reclining seats.

I don't agree. I said that the manager wouldn't play an option he considered inferior at the time because they might develop.

You're yet to say (type) anything that proves me wrong on that point. Managers select the best players for the job on the day, not because they want to develop for the future.

Players get sent out on loan to develop , like you say what manager is going to risk a result to develop a player for the manager replacing him!
I actually think Pep has ruined Foden as well

lol check out the Chavs bench tonight and compare to ours at any time of the year - let alone what we had available vs Fulham :ange-bored:

Feels like there is less to this than anyone thinks. We're good enough to play in Europa and hang into other competitions long enough to create lots of extra matches throughout the year, but we haven't invested in squad depth enough to handle the fixture congestion the way higher ranked clubs do

I would like to see some kind of brainy analysis of our historical record of injuries versus that of others PL clubs, all the same. It seems as though we're especially beleaguered for some reason.
