Yeah the more I look back the clearer it seems Moura would absolutely match or better Johnson in this system. The Hojbjerg miss is also salve to those getting sentimental about him.

Moura obviously had his moments (or moment), but by God he did some daft shit too.

He had this amazing ability to mark our own players out of the game. He would almost do the opposition's job and track perfectly back, in front of Kane, blocking off a pass.

I liked how direct he was. If Johnson is going to be any long term use, you expect it will be through the middle, as a second striker that can time runs into the box. The problem is, he's then taking up a position that might be filled by a more traditional 10.

Yeah but there lies the problem. We aren't willing to pay for top players so unless we create them ourselves (Kane) or get lucky investing in young talent (Bale, Modric, Ali) then we're never going to have the world class players you need to win things. So as you said we will probably continue in the same cycle where we'd need everything to fall into place to get top 4, but realistically we finish 7/8th most seasons. I don't see any manager doing any better with the current squad.

The hope would be that some of these young players turn into world class players who can win things! I think thats how the club want it though. They can spend and be more aggressive but they are clearly choosing this patient approach much to the frustration of all fans who just want to see us win!
Very few, if any clubs, sign world class players. Woolwich have spent 6-700m in last 5 years. Any world class players …NO. Rice cost 100m but wasn’t world class, still isn’t and never will be. Bellingham wasn’t world class when Madrid bought him. Grealish 100m …not worth talking about.
Haaland? None of Chelsea’s signings, Palmer might be one day.
World class is a very overused phrase. There can only be very few truly world class players otherwise the phrase loses its meaning, Is Yamal world class , probably will be but done nothing at club level yet.
Who is world class these days who might be worth buying.

Completely apathetic about Spurs at the moment. Could barely watch the last game as the stream wasn't working and I honestly wasn't even that bothered.

My mates birthday tonight so will miss the game. Usually I'd avoid the score and watch when I get in but I am just feeling so disillusioned and fed up with Spurs under Ange.

It sounds ridiculous but even the City game felt like a hollow victory. I can't explain it really, but it didn't have the same effect that similar wins have had over the years for me. I think it's because deep down I know we are an utterly average team and are going nowhere fast.

Whereas in previous years we had some genuine world class talent, you only have to look at our squad and the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Woolwich etc to know we are a million miles away now.

Yes I do want Ange gone, I've listed all the reasons multiple times, but he isn't solely to blame.

Anyone remember the club leaking through Ally Gold or another spurs journalist back in August that the club had decided not to sign a CM because of the progress that Bergval and Gray had shown in training? LMAO. This is the same Bergval who is stinking it up in Europa league games and looks miles off, and Gray who has shown glimpses yet is being played at full back by Ange and only gets fleeting appearances, because again understandably he isn't ready yet. Yet these two were supposed to be our big summer window, along with Odobert and Solanke and clearly the club championed it and used it as an excuse not to sign proper top talent.

You only have to look at our summer window, and compare it to the other top 5 to see the complete lack of ambition from Levy and the board. I seriously still can't believe that our big summer window was two teenagers and Solanke.

If that isn't indicative of the sorry state of affairs at our club nothing is. There is simply no excuse for it, there wasn't then or now, and as time has gone by it's been made to look even worse, if that was possible. Solanke has been decent but is being run into the ground. We need better quality in the front 3 too and Odobert should never have been our sole wide attacking signing. Him getting injured for pretty much the whole season, well let's be honest, Levy deserves it. We don't of course.

I don't know which Spurs will show up tonight. Season really is at a cross roads, a couple more defeats this week and it starts to look really grim.

I think Iraola will tactically do a number on Ange. But we could easily turn up and win 3 nil tonight but in reality my money is on Bournemouth. I thought we'd get battered at City and look how that turned out.

A win tonight doesn't change anything for me though unfortunately. I simply cannot see this side going anywhere under Ange, and all he is doing with these odd wins is papering over the cracks and delaying the inevitable.

Merry Christmas.

FIFA played with my team , no real surprises choice-wise as we’re buggered by injuries but Johnson over Werner to start , back 4 as expected , Biss & Sarr with the usual suspects.

Madders started great by getting sent off on 19 mins , probably deserved a yellow but the ref was clearly from the Sand Banks , we chased the game for the remaining 70 & Sonny got a brace to keep it a respectful 2-2 at full time .

Frustrating but given the circumstances not too bad

Over to you Ange

Bournemouth are a bit like us - Good result here, weird one there, spanking the other.
If they win, they go above us in the table.
If we win, we go 5th on GD- depending on the FUL vs BHA match.

I think its going to be an entertaining watch.

Spurs still get me emotional, but the less I have come to care about football in general - still love playing and only watch Spurs now after years of trying to get any game i could - the less it gets to me. I bet there are a good few on here like that now?

I will rage at no show performances against our rivals.
A 3-2 loss away to B'mouth usually gets a rye smile and a 'oh FFS spurs' and I move on with my life.

4-2 Spurs tonight! COYS

Good point on the term world class being thrown around too easily. I agree.

Lets call signings like Rice more top class. I don't think we make too many top class signings

Maddison got sent off? What for? Farting at one of their players? Did VAR review it? I demand answers!

What from Anges managerial history suggests he's a long term project manager?
The fact that he achieved success everywhere he went and only left jobs when he had taken them as far as he could. I don't think Ange was ever under any illusions that he could make us successful quickly. When he first got the job, he said something along the lines of "Yes, there is a lot of work to do but what a story if it happens" and I think that's what drives him. He doesn't want success handed to him.

At the end of the day, Slot took the easy way out when he preferred Liverpool to us. He inherited a ready-made, title-challenging team that just needed some fresh impetus. It remains to be seen how he will fare when he actually has to make some real decisions. Ange has been making real decisions since day one.

Slot bottled it. Ange took on the challenge.

Steve Jobs said "No one remembers the world's best soda salesman" when he was asked why the Pepsi marketing guru would leave Pepsi for Apple. Winning the league with Liverpool isn't making a mark, it's just winning the league with Liverpool. Winning the league with Tottenham Hotspur is making a mark or "putting a dent in the universe" as Jobs would have said.
