Personally this game (competition) means more to me than a random league game..... If it wasn't for the derby factor at the weekend I would have whole-heartedly advocated saving the better line-up for the cup game (and saved Romero & VDV for this game too).

Ditto the Man U game that follows Southampton.

.........I just wanna get to xmas still in all the cups and in the top 8 of the Europa.

Crucial game which we need at least a point. Team selection as always difficult but he has no choice but to go strong. I assume VDV out as only managed 70 mins yesterday.

People saying Ange is out of his depth , only managed the best team in a one team league but are worried that we will get beaten by the currently 3rd best team in that league , go figure .
I'll be stunned and really start worrying if we lose to Rangers , and I came out of my mum wearing a Rangers strip in '61 .
 
This is one of the shittiest Rangers teams in recent times so 3-1 them🤪 but maybe just maybe the fact they’ve an old firm league cup final on Sunday might be in our favour some of their players won’t risk injury

Well, the dog is not very happy after yesterday's result, she is sulking with her head resting on my feet. Although she may have been bored of the Scottish football lesson, educating her that both Aberdeen and Dundee Utd ate bigger clubs than Rangers.
 
I think it's clear that this squad with this manager this season are not capable of the consistency necessary to finish 4th or better.

That makes this and the United LC QF the most important matches this month. Even if you didn't believe that before, you should now.

Unfortunately we can't rotate the defence at all with Davies, Romero and VDV all injured and Spence not available for selection. Even if VDV is fit, I can't see us risking him. Man United in the cup next week is our big game so we can't take any chances before that! With Bissouma now suspended for the weekend it makes sense to start him here beside Bentancur. I quite like the idea of beefing up the midfield for an away game like this. Bergval and Maddison both need starts too so I think we just play both of them with them both rotating between the right and the middle. Solanke and Brennan both need rests and its probably no harm to give Kulusevski and Son a rest too. I think this team is strong enough to win and plenty of important players getting well needed rests.

By a strange coincidence ...... Cup Winners Cup 11 Dec 1962 Rangers 2 : 3 Spurs...... only 1 day out... lets hope its the same
 
If VDV is able to play I think I’d rather he start this one than Southampton. League position is fucked anyway and he’d be back at it again in the league cup on Thursday either way.

I suspect the CB pairing will be Drag-Gray though.

Correct on top 4, for more reasons than stated.

We are destined for continued pain. No reason to think any different and hope alone is sadly not enough.
 
Don’t ask me for a score prediction, I thought we would beat Chelsea! I thought we would have rested players for Ipswich and smashed them as well.
