Manager Ange Postecoglou

I watched a documentary on Optus about 3 month ago (I think it was on TNT as well) about Ange. He was saying how much he hated the way we play from the back. If that’s the case something is wrong. Either he is lying and he actually encourages it or the players are ignoring him and he has no control.

Yeah a coach like Eddie Howe or others may be struggling in terms of league position but don't get the spotlight of Ange regarding playing style.
The amount of negative scrutiny his 'tactics' get by pundits is a major concern.
Players watch shows like MNF.

Yes I think he is done, but there are massive, massive issues with this squad in terms of quality, depth, attitude, culture and then, THEN you have the management of this club at the highest level.

He will go-he has to- but the new manager will not simply flick a switch and in 12 months bring a trophy.

The club management and squad require a root and branch overhaul and that is not happening.

Poch had to go when he went. That one was right.
Not sure there was any gain in sacking Mourinho when we did, we would have plodded to the end of the season without changing to Mason.
After the Conte rant some would say he had to go, but I would have sat him down and asked him what he'd do to change all things he ranted about.

When results are so bad so often there is literally no choice but to remove them from their role. There will come a point where even Mason would do a better just because he wants to and the players won't (might not) hate hearing him speak every day.

I disagree with the Poch one. I always felt that the refusal to do the documentary was more of the reason he got sacked than his results. He had earned a season or two rebuild. I also think if he had made it to the Covid break he would have reassessed what was important to him.

It's what sucked me in to begin with. My partner is not a massive football fan .She watches when I do and understands it. She's worked with Michael Sheen so is familiar with his work she said something on Sunday that resonates. "I think Ange is like the man in the Damn United film. " So I went Brian Clough ? " " "Him, Yes he needs a *Peter Taylor " I think she's right it's the only thing could save him.

Love the way he's trying to exonerate himself by calling it an "assessment".

He used to talk about "bumps in the road" along the way. I didn't realise he was talking about the odd victory.

I was told earlier this week that my Mum has 3 months left to live, so I'm spending as much of that remaining time she has left with her. I really couldn't give a shit about the Football right now, or arguing with a bunch of no marks who's only interest is self aggrandisement.

I think the whole relationship had run its course. We were already sliding in the season before he went. Whether it as a fallout with Levy over football, the documentary, or the players I don't know. But we hit a point where Poch was never turning it around. He should have gone after that 2-7 mauling tbh.

I’ve been in a very similar situation. Really rough ride. Definitely don’t come on here and argue with muppets about football. Unless it makes you feel better that is.

No way- it’ll be easy for the team to go back to a sit deep counter tactic if they want- they’ve all been playing some form of it their entire lives- it’ll be absolutely natural and easy for them.

Even Mason could do better than Ange I’ve no doubt.
 
Did anyone else read a frankly slightly weird bit by Alistar Gold hinting at an argument between Postecoglou and Sonny. Apparently as they left the field. Then goes on to make a wider point about Son not being a leader. It felt a bit tonally off. Not sure to what end either.

Have yoh read into that body of research work about people who fall for cons? Apparently they nearly always double down, it's a proper psychological phenomenon. They can't help it and even in the face of the evidence become more entrenched hoping the 11th hour miracle vindicates them.
