Player Timo Werner

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think Ange to often comes out and criticises the players publicly. Last year he went on about the front third not being good enough. Whilst he didn’t name anyone, the players aren’t stupid and know when it’s directed at them.

Go back to Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho at Chelsea etc. the post match press conference was always bagging out the referee or talking about how unlucky they were. They never talked about how their team put in a poor performance. Whether that’s what they thought or not, it meant that they kept the players on their side because they never directly or indirectly criticised their players.

I think Ange is too open and honest in his press conferences. Players are more sensitive than ever.
I don't want sensitive players at the club. If they can't take feedback when they've been shit then what good are they?!

Reminds me of when everyone on here was white knighting for Bergvall cos Vic shouted at him. You'd swear Vicario completely ended his career the way some were going on.

This is Premier League football. The players are playing for one of the absolute top teams in the world (and getting paid handsomely for it). We need players who will fight and react in adversity, not players who'll sulk and cry when someone says something a little bit mean to them.

It's themselves they need to look at. Play better and the 'hurtful' comments disappear.

Match Threads: 'These players are shit'. 'We need upgrades to these Champo players!'. 'What a waste of money some of these are'. 'Why wait until the 80th minute to take x off when he's been shit for 80 mins'?

This thread: 'Oh no! The players can't be told to their faces that they're not playing well. They might hear!'

Modern life, people don’t like to hear harsh truths any more. We all have to be sensitive to each other's needs.

Society is a lot softer than it was in earlier eras.

Agree about Romero

He just wants out so get a decent price for him and fuck him off!

With Timo he needs a manager who understands man management like Harry Redknapp who would probably put his arm round him and give him gentle encouragement like he did Bale

Not publicly throwing him under the bus in a live TV interview three days after him saying that he would never do that!

He hasn’t got a clue.
Like when Harry said his wife Sandra would have scored the goal that Darren Bent missed?

Not sure if people are being wilfully obtuse about this.

No one cares about Werner's feelings being hurt. The negative fan reaction is down to two things:

1. The Ange cultists have been at pains to praise Ange for not throwing individuals under the bus a la Conte and Mourinho. It has been used as a clear distinction between his style and theirs. Yet here he is, doing exactly what they were criticised for. (In fact only two days earlier Ange himself said he doesn't blame individuals).

2. Given all the shit that has been repeatedly served up this season by key first XI players, Ange choosing a back-up loan signing (WHO HE SIGNED TWICE) as his target is pretty pathetic. It's a cowardly move. He references other players being in the same boat but didn't have the bollocks to call them out.

Son, Romero and Maddison have been shit for most of the season. How about call out your leadership group instead?

Where do you go if that fails ???🤪

Bar a few highlights, Timo hasn't played well since he joined.

I am choosing to assume that there have been many conversations in private with him about needing to perform better.

On Thursday, when struggling for numbers and the team in a terrible run of form, Timo decided he couldn't even control the ball properly and needed to run straight into defenders.

I don't blame Ange for opting to see if public comments finally spark the required reaction.

Werner is just a poor player. Is Ange expecting him to suddenly become a top player?

Why sign him again after the poor first loan?

This is on Ange not Werner. Werner is what he is.

The funny thing with all of this is Ange has defended him his whole time he's been at the club, he could have thrown him under a bus a long time ago, but he hasn't.

Fans have been on here from day 1 moaning about him, wanting him called out etc then Ange finally does it and it's 'He shouldn't be saying those things'.

It not like we signed him 2 weeks ago, Ange has said it how it is, something alot of people want. Funny how when it happens people start crying about it.

Hopefully it will give Werner a kick up the arse, who on the whole he hasn't been awful, but Thursday he wasn't good enough.

There’s a big difference in berating a player to his face, and humiliating him in the media for thousands to witness!

It’s a cheap shot from Ange. The professional thing was to keep it behind closed doors.

But he doesn’t help his case when saying that you shouldn’t call players out publicly and any criticism should be behind four walls etc and then three days later he does exactly that!

Players will look at each other and ask can we believe anything this cunt says?

He’s totally out of order and I’m amazed at some people trying to defend him on this!

Fine so take him into an office just the two you and bollock him!

I’m not saying that he doesn’t need it but do it in private!

Fans haven't wanted Ange to call Werner out. No one gives a shit about Werner, he's on loan with no future here.

Fans wanted Ange to stop playing him! Massive difference.

He didn't humiliate him ffs.

He said he's playing poorly and he expects more from a senior player in his squad.

Geez, crucify the fat Aussie!
