Player Yves Bissouma

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I mean, Kulusevski spent the first hour walking around like a turtle in a fucking windsock, Son was fucking atrocious, Sarr was awful (including letting Diaz run off him for the first goal) Porro was shite, but exposed horribly by Kulusevski’s laziness, Bissouma saw about three times more ball than Sarr (as much as Sarr, Kulusevski and a Maddison put together) and gave it away less, but yeah Bissouma….
Why do you have this weird obsession with Bissouma? You've been like that for years now (to the point of also criticising Bentacur whenever you possibly can). When we signed Biss we all hoped that he could play for us the way he had for Brighton, and after he signed there were times here and there where we all saw good games or good moments and hoped he might achieve that, but you'd have to be one of his family members to not accept that he's been inconsistent at best, and was truly awful, not for the first time this season, yesterday. He's never going to be the top class reliable performer that you want him to be - get over it.

Out of interest, what is the origin of your superlative attitude towards him? Do you know him or something? Is it based on his Brighton performances? Or his performances for us? Is it a nationality thing, do you have affection for him because he's from Ivory Coast or something like that? Or something else? (Genuine question - not trying to wind you up, just trying to understand why you seem to see him so differently to pretty much every other Spurs fan).

I've defended Bissouma so many times mate. He was fucking awful against Liverpool.

I really think the biggest problems lie elsewhere. He’s not a pure DM and he’s being asked to be Rodri, where a) he isn’t Rodri and b) those around, and especially those ahead f him aren’t as good, or as diligent as Pep coaches City’s players to defend as a fucking team.

Kulusevski might cover ground but it’s at fucking jog speed, he never tracks runners or defends his fb properly. Son runs really quick but rarely fucking engages anyone. Porro and Udogie are not good defenders. Sarr wasn’t good yesterday, kept letting people run off him, but because of Kulusevski’s jogging he had a double workload like Bissouma.

Bissouma is definitely not without flaws but our whole team lacked cohesion yesterday. Forwards were not pressing properly which was pulling the midfielders out of position. Bissouma was left running around like a stewed prune in a moulinex hairdryer.

I keep saying, m fine with upgrading Bissouma, but finding a 6 that will do everything this system wants, and excelling, will not be easy.

The coaching and tactics needs to fix the reasons why we are getting our pants pulled down every week. And Bentancur, Bergval or Sarr aren’t the fix either.

Biss was giving away easy passes from the start of the game. we can offer all the excuses we like about what he's got around him and what he's asked to do but he was terrible with the ball and that's the one thing we are meant to expect him to do.

Maybe he's not a #6 but his best games for us have been playing #6 and he can play it so much better than he did yesterday. He was completely hopeless yesterday.

I would start Bergvall or Gray at #6 for a bit. Definitely against Wolves. Bergvall did enough against Saints and UTD to get a chance.

I do wonder if we have any good players at all when I read player threads.

Is there a single Tottenham player who all agree is good enough for the level we wish to be at?

Welcome to the BC experience.

Players good enough:
Solanke, Maddison, Kulu, Odobert, Moore, Sarr, Benta, Bergvall, Gray, Porro, Udogie, Spence, Romero, VdV, Dragusin, Davies, Vicario

Players not making great team contributions right now:
Bissouma, Johnson

It's not a long list honestly- but we really don't have a real 6 right now (so long as we refuse to play Gray there). Our RW situation is a bit weird with either Johnson or Kulu. We've had a lot of reps now though and it seems we're better with Kulu there. Son is at the end of his career. Werner is a loan. Forster is a serviceable backup keeper.

We're actually a really good squad, if only we could find a capable manager to put it all together the right way.

Johnson just came off the bench and got an assist. He has 10 goals and 3 assists across all comps this season. Give it a rest.

Players good enough: Kulu
Players who are either shit or massively overrated:
Bissouma, Johnson, Solanke, Maddison, Odobert, Moore, Sarr, Benta, Bergvall, Gray, Porro, Udogie, Spence, Romero, VdV, Dragusin, Davies, Vicario

It's really a long list honestly

We're actually a really bang average squad, if only we could find a new manager, chairman and players to put it all together the right way.

FYP

Bissouma was a player I really fucking liked at Brighton and had huge hopes for at Spurs. I’ve tried to defend him a lot. And he’s had moments of looking great. Early on under Ange he was titanic.

But yeah, time to move on. He’s got great attributes but does thick things constantly. A player who looks good on stat sheets but then you watch them and they regularly fuck their team over. We have a few of those.

He’s a decent impact sub who is never going to be good enough to start for a top side, as long as we all accept that it’s fine.
Pretty rough paying 60m for that.
I don't know that anyone will pay us that amount. In fact I highly doubt it.
As long as he's not on too much wages, and is content to primarily come of the bench I guess it's not the worst outcome. Maybe he can even be tried in the rare counter attacking ST role or be developed to help there.

Apart from Odobert who has played about 2 minutes, this list does not match what posters say in individual player threads.

See?

Needs to be played only as a classic 8 where his energy is needed, and where he doesn't have to be too, too involved in key offensive and defensive moments. Not a CDM, not a CAM. Just a pure CM only, and definitely not Premier XI level CM either.

Not really, He would also be good to start in earlier cup games etc.

We want a good squad - you have to pay for a good squad.

Give people time with Odobert. He’s still in shiny new toy stage. His performance vs Everton & others get written off as shite if he wasn’t young and new.

I personally wasn’t impressed with him in the games he played. With the caveat of he’s very, very young. But ultimately he was in and out of Burnley for a reason.
