Match Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur Boxing Day 26th December 15:00

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But, apart from the 2 European cups which is obviously an incredible achievement, what have they won? 1 league. We have 2 x league title. They have 2 Fa cups, we have 8 X Fa cups. They have 4 x league cups, we have 5. We might have the lesser European honours but we still have 3 x European trophies. So, why are Forest so praised and decorated as this trophy winning club with only 11 major honours whilst we get ridiculed throughout this country by every fanbase despite our rich trophy history being miles better than most clubs? Look at the comments. Every rival fan jumps on the Spurs ridicule bandwagon

I don’t think they ever claimed to be part of the big 4/5/6.

Think that’s the most annoying thing clubs hate about us. We have won fuck all in terms of the league since the 60s. But act like we should be winning it every other year.

Let’s face it. It’s what we hate most about us as well.
Constant moaning about the lack of trophies and being called a big club when we don’t act like one.

4-2 Tottenham. We will win our next 5 games and then lose to Woolwich. Those 5 wins against Forest,Wolves,Newcastle,Liverpool reserves and Tamworth keeps the wolves from the door then the world will cave in again against Woolwich because they’ll be the first team of real quality we come up against.
I think Forest is our hardest game till Woolwich.
We are not playing Liverpool's reserves as they will not need to rest them with a FACup match following.

We need fresh legs. I would play all first teamers that did not start against Liverpool. The rest for Porro & Son will set us up for Sunday.
Forester,
Spence, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie
Bergvale, Bentencur, Kula,
Johnson, Solanke, Werner
We would then have Maddison, Sarr & Son to come on as subs.
I have found over the years that the Non Europe teams find Xmas hard as they are not used to playing twice a week. They do not have the depth and their first teamers get tired.
I am hopeful of a result although out at family event and not sure when I will watch it. Late Thursday or early Friday morning.

They're still a noble club with noble history. The fact the European Cups were back to back is even more extraordinary.

Less European trophies and league titles than us? Sure. No quarrel. They still have a European heritage that puts Woolwich and Man City to shame. They're proper too, unlike City, Chavs or Newcastle. Can't help but have a sneaking admiration for it.

Being called a big club has really messed us up. We think we deserve things.

Big clubs win things and when they are not winning they will spend serious coin buying top quality players to be in contention to win things.

Mid tier clubs hope to finish between 4th and 8th, hope to qualify for a European competition and hope to win a cup along the way. They spend money on younger players hoping to find a star.

We got money but we ain't no big club.

Spurs 9/5

It's shocking how far we have fallen. A team who are in just their 3rd season back in the EPL are clear favourites against us.

Agree definitely. Not sure where the obsession with being a "big" club even comes from. For many of us, we're not old enough to remember when Spurs were a side that won trophies regularly. I suppose in terms of resources we are like you said, but the ownership goes between not spending, or spending badly, and in the end the fans get mocked as thinking we're a big club but not being able to live up to it.

Tbf a lot of Tottenham fans do talk like that.

I’m 43. In my lifetime we were the club with the most FA Cup wins in the history of English football and one of Englands most successful clubs in European history.

Then the Premier League happened and we’ve been a joke ever since.

Merry Christmas

Leicester did even better in two seasons. Blackpool in their first season had two more points than us right now at this stage after 17 games (25 pts) and still got relegated in that same season. It is surprising though how Forest are genuinely better than us and Bournemouth keep dicking Man United 3-0 at Old Trafford in consecutive seasons.

It's incredible how we have been an ever present and yet have win so little since the PL's inception.

It is but then we have had Sugar and Levy while Woolwich had David Dein who knew what he was doing, United stuck with Fergie, Liverpool eventually got their act together while Chelsea and City got owners who had money, ruthless ambition and potentially the requirement to bend or ignore the rules which we will see shortly in the court cases. Out of the so called ‘big 5’ United, Liverpool, Woolwich, Spurs and Everton, us and Everton fell off, Everton worse than us.
