We should be in a position to get in the very best players, for the many reasons we all know. And the one player I think we should at least attempt to splurge on, that would make a huge difference to the side and the way we want to play is Frenkie de Jong.

On huge money, but in an interview today, for the first time, he hinted there could be a chance of him leaving Barcelona. They are also in huge financial difficulties, so may be keen on a deal.

Only snag is in his interview he said he wants to compete for titles. However far we are from that, I really think he’d get us a fuck of a lot closer.

I’m not saying this is possible, just what I’d like to see.

Sarcastic laughter emojis incoming.

(No chance)

He was around during the summer window and was caught spouting bullshit

tbh anyone claiming to know what we're up to are just attention seekers chatting shit

I doubt Levy and Lange themselves have any idea what they are doing , let alone some no mark twitter account

people worship that Okeefe fellow but he had a mare in the summer window too , none of this bullshit should really be taken seriously

Unless it's a rumour I don't like and gives me the chance to slag off levy ofcourse , then it's fine to treat as gospel :troll:

It's wild how much POK gets lauded - he definitely gets more wrong than right and lives off posting his opinion on things dressed up as fact that seem to align with the loudest consensus trending at any given time.

I’m 100% with you on him. He’s one of the few midfielders I see now really dictating the pace of a game. I think he’s pure class. He’s a pipe dream for us. No chance he would come to us.

I think O’Keefe actually did know things in 22/23 and with specific players thru his agency contacts. He was good on the Kane saga, the best imo.

However, since Lange came in he doesn’t. And neither does anyone else.

Yeah his Kane info was good and he definitely has a bit of insight into team news if I remember correctly, but he just dresses up his opinion as fact now and way too many people think it's coming from a place of knowledge.

Brilliant player and just what we need, but as you say, I think he’s on something close to 400k a week after tax.

The only PL club that would entertain the necessary financial contortions is the Chavs.

I’d have taken a chance with Joao Felix. Could have played anywhere across the front line and is significantly more talented than anyone we have.

Julian Brandt was mentioned a week ago, but that’s unfortunately gone cold.

I know the GK has been mentioned but don't recall anything here about the CB.
SC:
The actual ITK that's being referenced:

Keeper who can play out from back is top priority one should be joining next week he is young and a full international.

We are trying to buy centre half from Bundesliga.
To add to this, Dragon confirmed the CB wasn’t left footed.

I’m pretty sure Barca want rid. Would they pay half his salary, to save £10m a year? Probably. Means he’s right on our unspecified £200k per week maximum.

Not many places he could go that could afford him. City maybe, but he goes on the bench when Rodri comes back. Chelsea going to get him in when they are paying their players less all the time? In a position they are already strong? United too close to PSR unless they get rid of Rashford and further away from challenging than we are. Woolwich? Maybe. Bayern? Maybe. Can’t think of anyone else with the financial clout.

Levy would get some leeway if he went and made a signing like him. Won’t happen though.

I’d love your reasoning to be true; I just don’t think we fish in those waters.

The entire situation with Barca is silly. Any other financial enterprise would have simply been allowed to go bankrupt. They spent half a billion on Coutinho, Dembele, de Jong, to say nothing of how much they gave Messi. And yet they still continue to spend.

The result is insane contracts like De Jong’s, which can’t be replicated by anyone else.

And their current Olmo fiasco.

They are only allowed to register Olmo for the fall season, and are told to make room in the budget for the spring. Fail to do so. Try to register Olmo anyways, and get denied.

Now Olmo has to pick between not playing for 6 months. Or leaving as a free agent. And if he leaves as a free agent. Barca still has to pay his salary through his contract length (2030).

What a club.
