To be fair I'm Ange Out but I think most right minded people would agree that our over matched players gave it a go, never felt sorry for themselves and never downed tools. I dislike Ange and his clown ball immensely but you have to give him some credit for the majority of the players putting in a shift.
The players are trying which makes it increasingly annoying that they're getting nothing from it. I feel sorry for them. There's booing here and there, the press outright mocks us nowadays and the losses are piling up. At the same time they're running like dogs, running on fumes trying to execute the plan. With half a season gone it's very easy to look at our past fixtures and see that we could've easily have 9 points more if not for the absolute lack of respect for the opponents and the competition itself. The more I see players actually clearly giving everything and yet losing again (against a poor Newcastle by the way) I'm starting to be more worried than if they didn't try and lost.
The tactics are clearly not sustainable.
All other teams are killing themselves for point whilst for us 'yeah disappointing of course, the boys gave everything' is the new standard. We're not a non league side in FA cup, each of these players cost many million pounds, you can maybe praise Ipswich for heroic losses and giving their all. We should be winning or trying not to lose if we can't win.

So I guess United are really going to struggle signing players now?
Man U is Man U. They're in a different league. But I think signing for Man U is not the no-brainer it once was. Kids nowadays don't grow up dreaming to play for a club they always see struggling. But not even they are relying only on their name. They have to pay higher salaries now. It was different under Fergie. You wouldn't have the same desire to go there to play for Ten Hag or Amorim. Especially if the club is stuck in the bottom half.

Then imagine Spurs. The fall is massive. Last year we ended fifth. Now we're 1.2 points per game. When will be enough for you?

His post match interview was embarrassing.

He is completely out of his depth and has no ability to handle the pressure.
I'm somewhere between giving Ange the season, having given up on the league and us not having a good replacement lined up, and thinking he should go now.

Instances like this suggest the latter to me - man to man, guy looks and sounds unwell, it's not looking good. It might be best for all concerned if he resigned the more I see like this.

I'd also argue our press is poor. It's not just about pressing the man with the ball, it's about pressing (getting tight) on players who could receive the ball. Again basic coaching. Press as a unit or don't press at all in the final third. Sonny for example doing those lung-busting solo runs towards a player with the ball, only to have that player knock it to a team mate just before Sonny arrives?
True, we never press together in a smart way. It's Son or Solanke in isolation. Opponents get the ball up the pitch so easily. When it's our turn, we make the most work of it possible. Passing back and forth in the penalty box, forcing keepers to play like midfielders. The odds are always stacked against us in every part of the field. That's why we only get 1.2 points a game.

Sorry mate but professional football players should not need coaching on passing a ball to a standing players feet or into the space the player is running is running into. It's fucking basics you learn before your tenth birthday. If my Premier League manager/coach is putting time an effort into little league drills then we really are fucked. They don't even coach passing the ball in the Isthmian League.

I agree. Then they are allowed to get away with sloppy standards.

Agree! He looks and sounds like he is on the brink of losing it!!

Before this latest injury crisis, despite some bad defeats (Brighton, Ipswaich, Palace), we had the highest goals scored and 3rd lowest goals conceded. Even today we have conceded the fewest goals away from home in the Premier League. I have no doubt that, with the right players, Ange will win things for us.

If we don't get ripped to shreds by Liverpool, this bloke might get into next season.

There is something there that might just tip it Postecoglou's way.

The tide may turn just in time is how I sense things, but the next 2 games are critical.

the reason the passing is dog shit is because they dont seem to have any patterns of play or any idea how to actually attack teams, coupled with the wide men not being footballers at all johnson/son/wener. im watching maddison and kulu run into them with the ball! thats ok if youre running into an actual footballer from time to time who can play some tight, off the cuff, cute stuff, but running with the ball into johnson is a waste of time. hes a runner that needs open space, his passing is fucking shockingly bad too, poor weight, timing and precision.

a good manager wouldnt be allowing kulu and maddison to be running into team mates as much as they do, especially when they are extremely limited footballers. its a classic case of players not wanting to pass to certain players as they know its wasting the ball. this is a sorry state of affairs.

if youre watching spurs and trying to break down what the manager is actually trying to do what is it? because it looks to me like its just hoping kulu or maddison can produce some individual brilliance and for some reason the FB's are pushed up far too high.... the ball does not move around quick enough at all, very poor standard. hence why we are fucking 12th. when it comes to defending its even worse some how, erratic shit where everyone is haring about trying to cover the massive gaps that our 'system' leaves exposed.

What strikes me about these convos in here is that those criticising us/Ange are ignoring all context.

Yes our points haul is poor.
Yes our league position is poor.

But we're not in this position with our full squad.

If we were, I would be saying Ange should go.

The players are clearly still with him and while they are so am I.

If he loses them then it'll change.

We've played 9 away games and scored 16 which is the joint 7th highest. But 12 of those came in 3 matches against United, City and Southampton who were all diabolical. 2 of them came in the defeat at Brighton. So just 2 goals in the other 5 away games against Leicester, Newcastle, Forest, Bournemouth and Palace.

Also 4 wins out of 11 at home is the truly frightening thing, and that's despite scoring the 2nd most goals with 26. Just how many goals do we need to score to be able to win at home? Brentford have been exceptional at home with 7 wins out of 10 but they've scored only 1 more goal than us. Liverpool have only scored 18 at home yet they've won 7 of 9.

The red flags re: Anges's football could not be raised any higher, it's blindingly obvious that results will never be consistent playing this way. We don't really do draws and we certainly don't do clean sheets, to get anywhere you need to do both of those things.

What strikes me is people constantly say everyone who wants him out misses context, then wilfully ignores the posts where people explain why he’s struggling WITH context. Rinse and repeat… rinse and repeat…
