Fair point. It would be a very Spursy thing to go ahead and get ourselves relegated, I just think there's (thankfully) way worse teams than us.

I was really upset last night ( volume of messages probably indicates that ) anyway was having a walk around the block with my daughter and she asked why I was upset. I said “Spurs could be relegated”. She asked “why does that matter”. My stuttering reply was “oh it would cost millions, we would lose our best players and not be playing in the premier league or likely Europe”.
Her reply was incredibly clear.
“But that only really affects the owners if they lose money doesn’t it?l. You will just play different teams”.
She is totally right relegation fucks ENIC much more than the rest of us. We already don’t compete. We have already sold off the best players. The squad is years away from competing. Why give a shit ? Ego aside if Levy takes us down, he oversees a laughing stock of a club anyway. Going down hurts him much more than us. We are getting laughed at week in and week out anyways. It’s just a matter of not caring anymore.

I’d rather win the Europa league game out of the two because if we lose against Leicester surely he has to go. Plus I think a new manager with a decent record could get us to go far in the competition.
If we went down I’d obviously be annoyed but I’d just laugh at us more than anything. Sure it would be embarrassing but I’d just agree with mates taking the piss. It would be indefensible.
We’d find out who the real fans are though wouldnt we. We’d lose the tourists for sure. We’d probably be ok with the parachute payments too and would be able to retain half the squad. It would take years, once promoted again, to climb the PL table because ENIC wouldn’t buy the players they’d need to to get back to being a European qualifying team. It wouldn’t rid us of them either.
I dont know, but our current TV rights are like £150m including equal share and merit payments
Year 1 the parachute payment is something like £40m and TV rights £2m. So we've lost £110m right off the bat. Year two would be worse, and again year three.
Do Nike and AIA have relegation break clauses in their deals? If they were smart they do. We could be in a world of pain, and you know ENIC wouldn't put any money.
That's before we lose the match day revenues, the day trippers, the insane queues outside the club shop. Then there's a stadium debt which is loose change to a Premier league club but would be crippling to a championship club.
We'd need a fire sale of players, most of them would want out and nor could we afford them even if they wanted to stay.
It might be more "pure" and fun to begin with but if we get sucked down there we might not come back up for years. And it wouldn't rid us of ENIC. There's no real upside to it.
Skipp could have been out of the equation, could have still been with us!
