The absolute glaring options up front are there if people in charge would “pay the money”

There’s Osihmen languishing in Turkey. Real quality player.
There’s Delap languishing in a relegation bound team with little recent pedigree beyond the lower leagues.
Looks an absolute menace.

There will be scores more but I can’t be arsed looking beyond the end of this post.

Levy has had his big boy pants on for a long time now looking at his wages and bonuses.

The whole club is rotting from the top downwards.

It’s not Ange. I like him but he’s not cut out for this level.

We’ve tried the big hitters with equal failure where it matters. We even sacked one the week of a final.- as shit as the trophy is- it’s perhaps a springboard to better things.

It comes down to the same old people who run it. We could get prime Pep in and we’d still look like a pound shop wannabe.

My interest in this club I’ve loved for 50 years is so low now. In the gutter actually.

I feel dead inside even admitting this. That’s what hurts the most. The lack of any feeling anymore. Drained.

Send that to. Levy. Seems heartfelt. I think fates have conspired against the club somewhat but equally we seem completely bereft of answers, and nearly to have given up trying.

Angel doesn’t select or buy the players

Lange, levy, Cullen and collecot, plus certain agents decide who we buy

This is entirely correct. Coaches have nothing to do with the scouting or selection. He says he needs a style of player; and the club gives him a player.

Sure, coaches will have input and usually have to give a yay or nay (but this can be overridden).

Poch, Conte and Mourinho all spoke of 'club signings'. AVB was very clear that he asked for a number of players, and got none of them.

There is no shortcut to success. The days of City / Chelsea going out and buying a dozen elite players in their prime are supposed to be behind us. Newcastle have shown that money can only get you so far.

In Levy's defense (arghh!), he has been spearheading the petition with the Premier League to reform the financial playing field and punish those clubs who break the rules. It would by hypocritical of the club to then get drawn into the financial doping of other teams.

All clubs go through bad seasons during a rebuild. Look at Chelsea, Liverpool for instance. The important thing is that you have a long term strategy (see Liverpool) over a short term bounce (see Leeds).

This season we paid the price for having too many young, inexperienced players expected to play backup. But it's not over yet. We are still in 3 comps, and Champions League qualification is still available. The EPL games are no longer important, and the Cups will now be the place to judge these players desire and the coach.

I am all for getting players in a.s.a.p. but City shop at a different level to us, as do Woolwich, Scouse, United and Chavs.

This is self imposed. We have the cash flow and probably the most PSR space of any of them by a long shot.

Ange said a few days ago, it's getting the right players that fit his system not just a player for the sake of it. I don't see that as being wrong.

This isn’t incompatible with the first point. I don’t think anyone is looking for just any warm body, but just be decisive when a player does fit the profile.

We will soon be out of all these competitions if we don’t do something differently and quickly.
The difference between us and Chelsea, Liverpool, for instance- is that they won things.
Our long term strategy has been in place for quarter of a century under the same leadership.
And we’ve won next to nothing. No league title or European trophy. Not even an FA cup.
None of us are getting any younger.
Some of us remember the ups and downs.
I’ve never felt more like an easily replaced relic from our past.

I still don't get why Spurs fans get so wound up that Spurs don't win anything. They haven't been a club that wins stuff since Football was played by middle-aged men with a Pint in one hand and a fag in the other.

Surely nobody really started supporting Spurs thinking they were backing a 'winning team'? Sure, if you were born in the area, you are stuck with them; but for anyone else, what really was your expectation?

Spurs are just one of the clubs there to make up the numbers. The owners are trying to change that and be successful but have prioritized running the club as a commercial enterprise, rather than a football team.

At least with Ange, every game is an exciting thrill ride, full of emotion - with lots of highs and lows. Imagine if you had to watch an AVB game every week. Even winning was boring.

You still don’t get why?

There are no more highs anymore, just a continual drudgery of increasingly dull, technically poor, and naive tactics leading 5 points out of 30.

I really hope I’m just really missing the sarcasm here because even AVB was scrounging more points than this.

Here’s an interesting stat. AVB left having coached 80 games for us. Ange is on 74. Even if he wins all 6 of our next games he’d still be two wins short of AVB’s record with us.

Get what you are saying and that was Levy’s plan but the way City are spending this window, it looks like they are getting away with it and nothing seems to have deterred Chelsea,

Tbh it’s not an incentive for the PL to really stop the rampant spending because it brings talent to their competition. Even Forest aren’t the plucky underdogs the PL would love everyone to believe. Look at their criminal owner crazy spending volumes.

The time for Levy to worry about hypocrisy has passed imo

It’s wrong when it’s not clear what the system is. Club system ? Team system ? Ange’s system. Lange’s system? You get my point.

Good players and sensible tactics win football matches. We have neither good players or sensible tactics at the moment. Can’t even field a team for Thursday for the look of things.

And honestly, it doesn’t even look like we are trying to provide the manager with players for that or even the future. Always playing the pauper levy, hard to pull the wool over people’s eyes though when they know how much the stadium makes and how much tv money we get.
