He says the goal is to press and win the ball quickly after we lose it, so that end up dominating possession and creating more chances than the other team. Not a flip of the coin.

Problem is it hasn’t worked out that way and our record is piss poor even though we have a good goal differential. Clearly something is missing.

Problem is if you don't win it back quickly, you will exhaust yourself quickly and expose your defense to multiple 50 yard counter attacks until you finally collapse.

There needs to be some moderation in Ange's press- we're simply not good enough to win points against all the teams we need to by out-pressing them. We just don't have a good enough squad in comparison to the quality of our opponents to do that. In the past, we have accomplished much more going with other approaches like with counter attacking, three at the back, and using CAMs as in-cutting wingers.

Isn't there anyone in the staff that can say. "Shouldn't we at least try to organize the defence"?

TO be fair they were organised first half. They are just, like everyone else, fucking tired - but when the other 5 players ahead of them drop off there's no one else. So they get overwhelmed. No one can save them from the mistake that leads to a goal. Look at their second tonight... Kulu watching as they had the extra number for 15 seconds before the ball came in.

Again - I know it's not fashionable to talk about injuries but the most crucial part of any defense - and any team - is the keeper and CB's playing together not just for weeks but years. There is simply no continuity except for the continuous use of Archie Gray in whatever fucking position we need the kid to play.

Personally I'm staggered it took until Everton for the real collapse as the dam wall broke. The back 5 has been a calamity waiting to happen - because the only first choice there is Porro whose weakest area is his organisation and defending.

Having said all that we do also play a style that invites pressure. That's on the manager - not the injuries.
