Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

He’s s a football finance guy and lawyer. I think he’s one of the lawyers who used to work for Man City.

Edit: and bear in mind we cut our wages again considerably this summer

We didn't CUT our wages - we offloaded players on high wages who were not contributing to the team - Many of our players had their wages INCREASED this summer, and not a single one took a cut.

Youre using disingenuous language here dude.

I don't get why everyone is hating on Lange?

How do you know he hasn't given loads of proposals to Levy and the board? In the end, it's them that decide if we will spend money.

I think that Lange's record at Villa shows that he's not someone who sits on his hands. Actually, with this window in mind, you can see how it's about the board being willing to spend money; Villa has made signings in January, we haven't.

Media now reporting that Will Lankshear's loan uncertain after Solanke's injury. So guess this is now the most likely scenario. We don't sign an attacker and keep Lankshear. Pathetic.

I still hope I’m wrong about it but we all know how Levy works .

Hopefully it’s a bluff to make Ipswich think we are prepared to walk away from a deal for Delap

Does anyone really believe we’re paying 50-60m for Delap this window? Not me.

Also - I am pretty sure figures go well beyond the monthly payroll for players 400M for the year for their squad of 25 would work out to about an average of 1.3 million a month per player which is what Salah makes pretty much.

We should be all over Cunha and throwing the 70m his way. He's the perfect versatile profile. IF we were serious we'd be all over him but we are not serious. Richarlison is going to break down before the Liverpool match - no way he holds up playing every 3 days! We'll end up playing Liverpool at anfield with Lankshear up top and its all Levy's fault

We cut our wage bill. That’s not disingenuous. We replaced older, higher earners with younger lower earners. That’s a stone cold fact.

Its what every single team in the league does - people are making out like it has been slashed as part of a devious plan - its frankly ridiculous to not look at context and the bigger picture here.

Where was everyone YOY before this praising us for increasing our wage bill?

Are we really really really trying to compare our salaries to Liverpools with a straight face?

Really?

Liverpool with 12 players earning more than £100k each to our five? Our average salary of £69k to their average of £103k. Their average salary is going up or remaining steady while ours goes down over the last

Yes they have outliers like Salah which stretch their average wage but at the same time our fifth best paid player would be their thirteenth best paid player. They are paying for better quality all over the pitch. There's no comparison. We are simply not fishing in the same waters. I don't know why so many people look at our massive turnover, then look at our pathetic salary outgoings and then use Liverpool as some sort of comparator when they're light years ahead of us on what they offer players.

Stop it.

Ange isn't the guy, but at the same time we're not giving him anything like the tools our "rivals" get. We're on par with West Ham for salaries. A team we should be miles ahead of on this metric given the income we have. But yet we're below them in the league and level on salaries. This is not what the vast stadium income streams was meant to be delivering, something has gone very wrong here and I've long since given up trying to defend it and now I'm tickled by those trying to.
