Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The comparison between Ange and Conte is a comparison between almost polar opposites in -perceived- leverage and corresponding demeanor. The latter thought that this club was beneath him, and made no secret of it. He assumed that he was doing everyone a big favour by taking this job, and that therefore he held all the cards in this relationship of convenience. His actions reflected these assumptions.

The former is just glad to be here, he knows this is his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at top level. He'd be crazy to let this slip by throwing a tantrum, no matter how slighted he might be feeling at the moment. He assumes he has no leverage, rightfully so, and his demeanor follows suit. There's hardly anything puzzling here.

Ange is keeping it -mostly- quiet not because he is an exemplary ascetic, but because he knows he can't afford being perceived high maintenance. He might come clean if/when he gets the sack, but until then he'll do his absolute best to avoid rocking the boat. It's a calculated and rational move on his part, can't blame him.

It’s just madness that he was even bought in in the first place. We could all foresee this

Looking back at when the news was announced about his loan, a lot of fans were raving about him.

He's had some indifferent performances, and hasn't had a run of games to impress to be fair, and there has been occasions when he has come on and made more impact than Son.

Now that may be down to Son being tired, but in general Moore, Odobert, were out injured, and Son has been played as a central striker for some games. Had Richy not returned last week, and Werner fit, he would have likely started on the left.

I just don't know the quality of player that we could attract to pretty much bench warm behind Son, Moore and Odobert.

Deluded if fans think we should have any better player that is really fourth fiddle when everyone is fit.

Loan was a very good option i.m.o. and obviously not going to go to a buy situation at seasons end, but it was never going to be.

It's in every manager's remit to act as a mouthpiece for the club, anyone else in the Spurs hotseat would act the same way because it's literally written in their contract...I think fans just have fantasies of managers calling out the board because of Conte who is an anomaly manager, even Jose didn't speak out against the board until he was sacked.

Not unless glory is code for sh!t.

I was very underwhelmed by the appointment to be honest villa didn't seem to bothered by him leaving and their fans didn't rate him much.
Maybe I'm being harsh as he has brought some talented young players who hopefully shine in the future but in this transfer window we should have had deals lined up to go not just the Kinsky deal and we were left short in certain areas in the summer too

Yep. 6 days or whatever, isn't very long to put right.

Lange hasn't covered himself in glory so far has he?
Depends

If he identified and managed to bring in Gray, Solanke and Bergvall and also told Levy he needed more incomings and baldy refused to comply then it's not on him, and in fact those are three very good signings.

If he identified Gray, Bergvall and Solanke and himself decided that was enough and has sat on his arse since then then he's fucked up bad

Nobody knows how we operate though. We hear Levy has stepped back, then we hear Levy has got personally involved. Truth is nobody really knows how much Levy sticks his oar in but given we continue to be cheap we can be sure he sets the financial rules of any deals.

I'm willing to bet Lange is also working with one hand tied behind his back though. He's probably on orders to be in Scotland scouting managers instead of players.

I don’t know what realistic means….

Hincapie is realistic in the summer but probably not moving in January.

Brentford will always sell for the right money so Mbuemo?

Bournemouth would probably sell Semenyo for big money as well.

TLDR I don’t know

Realistic could mean anything.

It could mean based on the rules and budget Levy sets.

Or it could mean the rules and budget Levy could set because we have the actual ability to buy simply don't want to.
