Depends

If he identified and managed to bring in Gray, Solanke and Bergvall and also told Levy he needed more incomings and baldy refused to comply then it's not on him

If he identified Gray, Bergvall and Solanke and himself decided that was enough and has sat on his arse since then then he's fucked up bad

Nobody knows how we operate though. We hear Levy has stepped back, then we hear Levy has got personally involved. Truth is nobody really knows how much Levy sticks his oar in but given we continue to be cheap we can be sure he sets the financial rules of any deals.

I'm willing to bet Lange is also working with one hand tied behind his back though. He's probably on orders to be in Scotland scouting managers instead of players.
We're of similar thoughts you and I.

Given the steady stream of players in at Villa under Lange, this definitely feels like he is being hamstrung from up above.

I don’t know what realistic means….

Hincapie is realistic in the summer but probably not moving in January.

Brentford will always sell for the right money so Mbuemo?

Bournemouth would probably sell Semenyo for big money as well.

TLDR I don’t know

Hincapie is a good shout. Quick ish, decent on the ball, can play LCB and LB

I’d still love Tapsoba too.

Edit
And while we’re at it, let’s have Frimpong and Wirz too.

Typical of this club and levy in particular, leave the squad threadbare after a pitiful summer window and then blame the difficulty of the winter window for not strengthening then. Its beyond pathetic but a familiar pattern under Enic, squad building sure ain't their strength, not is paying wages, nor is attracting top talent, nor is backing a manager etc etc etc.

Lange is clearly good at implementing a scouting system and network that IDs good players.

Where we miss Paratici is he seemed to have Levy’s respect as a negotiator so persuaded him to step out of more deals. Still, Paratici still failed to get Conte a CB and a RWB

The person who cares the least has the power in a relationship, that was Conte's motto from the get-go. To be fair we, as a club, were not very enthusiastic about him either, so for neither party was it a marriage of love. But he took the cynicism to whole new level, by treating the situation like a zero-sum relationship where he was held hostage. So he had no fear of rocking the boat, in fact he looked forward to it.

For the reason that this is his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Ange still seems to be very much "in love" with this club, and this includes Levy/board as well. He has his grievances, like any party in any relationship can have, but in general he still sees a positive-sum relationship that is worth keeping intact. If there's a party who in fact cares less in the aforementioned sense, it's not Ange. He has no leverage, he can't benefit in any shape or form from jeopardizing this relationship. So he's acting accordingly.

This makes him neither a lowly stooge, nor an exceptionally benevolent and altruistic person who is above any considerations of self-interest. Just a rational human being.

He got him Spence. Conte wanted ready-made everything. Look how good I can be if I have a peak player in every position… is there a single player Conte made better?

What a cunt he is

The problem with just signing anyone for a temporary fix is that you over bloat the squad and they end up as deadwood and you can't get rid of them so in Jan the loan or loan with option market is quite fanciful...problem is that clubs are unwilling to just loan out players if they're not getting something in return.

The pool we are shopping is incredibly small for the kind of talent we want, January is a stupid window made for opportunists which is probably why clubs are keeping their powder dry until next week.
Yeah I’m not saying it is easy and I’m sure we would end up paying a premium but in my opinion it would be worth it , I guess a good comparison will be to see what the gooners do with the Jesus injury.
I fully understand we don’t want to sign shit players but we managed to sign the likes of Porro , Kulu and Bentancur recently in January windows so it can be done.

i.e opportunistic last minute signings in the window, it's likely to be the case again.
