So it's CB Jack Taylor from non-league club Sutton United...

Tottenham and West Ham both interested in signing ‘brilliant’ non-league defender

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both interested in signing young non-league defender Jack Taylor, TBR Football exclusively understands.

Ange Postecoglou is enduring several issues with his Tottenham defence right now and Graham Potter is yet to settle on a firm back four at West Ham – with Taylor now emerging as a surprise option for both clubs.

19-year-old central defender Taylor has come through Sutton United’s academy and began this season on loan at Hampton & Richmond Borough, where he shone in 23 appearances.

Sutton decided to recall Taylor in January given how much he was impressing in the National League South, and the defender is now a regular starter for manager Steve Morison.

Tottenham and West Ham interested in young English centre-back Jack Taylor

TBR football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Tottenham and West Ham have both been watching Taylor in the last few weeks, such has been his progress.

Both London clubs had scouts in place to see the young defender earn a Player of the Match display as Sutton caused a big upset against high-flying York City recently.

Taylor made two appearances for Sutton in League Two last season, but his stock has now risen immensely following his development this term.

In addition to Spurs and West Ham, Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic, Millwall and Peterborough United have all been checking on the defender since before Christmas.

Swapping non-league football for any of the clubs mentioned would obviously be a huge step up for Taylor, but his progress is attracting a lot of interest.

Taylor was recently described as a ‘brilliant’ defender by Sutton Academy manager Jimmy Dack, who has helped mastermind all of his recent success.

Well I know what Tottenham fans would be saying if they were Forest fans (because this actually happened). This is a once in a generation chance to push for the league title so it’s unforgivable not to be spending money. We need to secure top 4 and we’ve brought noone in !!

Same for Bournemouth for top 4 and Europe generally.

Woolwich are very light up front and have injuries. They can afford to spend and haven’t. Are they serious about winning the league or CL or are they happy to win the top 4 trophy every season?

Liverpool risk losing 3 or 4 of their best players in the summer and barely spent in the past 12 months . They should be proving they are a big club and try to keep their best players. Owners aren’t spending.

Manchester United are having a terrible season and don’t have the players to play Amorim’s system. Either back him or hire someone better suited to the squad.

It’s amazing how many Spurs narratives from the past 10 years can be used on a wide range of other teams. Although we think they only ever apply to us…
Are you watching the game today by any chance

Porro, udogie, Romero, vdv, bissouma, Bentencuar, Madison, kulu, son, Richarlison, Solanke, Sarr, Johnson, dragusin

So, which one of these are you deregistering?? and who is the Jan market is available that is better?
I'd deregister any of them with an upgrade if they can't be sold. This team is heading for regulation.

Your regular defence of this criminal ownership is just embarrassing.

Number of clubs who have spent more than us in January

Aston villa
Ipswich
Man City
Wolves

4 clubs. That’s it.

Clubs who have not signed a single player:
Woolwich
Brentford
Chelsea
Everton
Fulham
Liverpool
Manchester United
Newcastle United
West Ham United

9 clubs

But we have a massive injury crisis, the club is in freefall, morale is rock bottom. It may be a temporary solution, but anfew new signings would help massively lift everyone around the club.
