Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well I agree with that. Levy ain't funding air fares if they weren't taking it seriously.

Won't happen though.

We're signing fuck all because we're a joke, clownshoe club.

It's the issue with having a fraud as a manager and being so badly run on the pitch. It's a vicious cycle, worse you get on the pitch the harder it is to get out of it and attract better players to improve you and rectify it. Unless of course you are a Chelsea or United and just throw money at the problem until it works. But we don't do that either so....

Why not? Munich is a beautiful place to visit and it's got great beer.

It gives more credence to the "we tried" message we'll put out next week
The cost of am easyJet flight to Munich and a night in a travelodge on the outskirts of the City for the sake of a "we tried" and a thank you letter is much more palatable than the thought of a (guesswork) £40m transfer fee and associated wages for the sake of another pair of hammies to ruin...

I wouldn't be getting too excited about the Tel signing just yet. I'd still rate it a lot more unlikely than likely to happen (maybe around 30% chance). It feels a bit like the Kolo Muani signing except the only difference is that I think Bayern might want to actually do the deal with us as we are offering a permanent deal and we have a good relationship with them.

Problem is just like Kolo Muani, I'm not sure we are Tel's preference so it'll take a lot to persuade him to come here. I feel like if someone else matches our offer then he'll join them over us. Basically we need Bayern to agree a deal with us and everyone else to back off - feels like a bit of a long shot.
Keep seeing this, what's the actual basis for it.

We played hardball over Kane whilst their club ambassadors and reporters spent the summer taking th piss out of us, let them take have Eric Dier, and saved them from the Dragusin bullet...

Hardly seems enough to make us bosom buddies.

If Lange flew there last night, then yeah we are obviously willing to put the money up for the deal, it's going to be about convincing the player on this one I feel.
I think the fact that we wanted him in the Kane deal and we want him now can go a long way with the player and his entourage, that we have a vision for his future and how we want him to develop here.

At least that’s my hope anyway.

I wouldn’t think Lange would travel to Munich if we weren’t seriously trying to do a deal.

I think it will be down to the player and where he wants to go. He’ll have CL aspirations having been at Bayern.

The one advantage we have is he’ll walk into the team and play lots of minutes.
I dont know why everyone assume Lange was watching Bayern players. Dare to say - there was also another team that played at the same pitch, at exactly same time. This David Strelec guy from Slovan has quite nice stats this season!

Woolwich are the one which worries me, they have the money, an excellent sporting project (makes me feel sick saying that) , managerial stability, are in the CL and one of the favourites for it. They can also offer lots of minutes. Seems like they may be focused on Watkins at the moment. For where Woolwich are this window, signing a proven PL striker to take them to a title makes more sense than signing a 19 year old who won't take them to a title lets be honest.

Chelsea are a concern because they have the money, but if the player is sensible he'll look at all their attacking options and think, if it's bad at Bayern, it'll be even worse there.

United have the prestige and wages, but it doesn't sound like they are in for him on a perm, only a loan. So that could work in our favour if Bayern and the player prefer a perm.

We can probably offer the money required on this deal for once, but we look a mess on the pitch, are in awful form, having our worst league season in decades, look unlikely to qualify for Europe next season, and manager instability.

I just can't see this happening for us.

What does Trix say about it?

Tel is defo gonna be this season's Diaz. If all 4 of the touted clubs actually are interested we will not get a sniff if one of them comes in after catching wind of our interest, Chavs and United will pay him wages that will blow us out the water and Woolwich are after the league, he would probably back himself to oust Jesus or Martinelli over time as well as I don't think either of them are the final piece of the puzzle with regards to a title winning XI, Duran going to Saudi will kind of fuck us there I reckon because Tel might represent the only serious attacking reinforcement they can give Arteta in Jan with Watkins firmly off the table. I just don't see it being on myself.

Nobody said he was there watching the game lol. He was there to meet with Tel's reps and Bayern.

Cold. Hard. Cash!

It’s amazing what becomes water under the bridge when you’re looking to sell and someone dangles a big bag of cash under your nose!

No two clubs are bosom buddies but they know eachother very well in terms of who you have to deal with to get the deal accelerated. I don't think its a complete game changer but its a small advantage on our side.

The problem is the player isn't keen on Spurs and will need convincing. We might even need Bayern to help push him our way!

As I said above, I see the Tel signing as very unlikely despite all the positive reports. But I think we are in a good position to agree a deal with Bayern, but we'll need help to convince Tel to come.

And then read his injury record...

His stats in Italy are very very underwhelming too, looks like he took a jump up to a big league too early from Austria and couldn't hack it. If he's the answer I'm not sure what the question is tbh. Also has me questioning this "data-led approach".

My mate who follows closely Milan said we better not touch him since he is bad recently.

I just hope we won't return them a favour for buying Royal from us.

Looking at the fee and probable low wages, seems to me like Milan took themselves a punt on an N'winger, to term a phrase.

Would be so Spurs to help them get him off the books and lumber ourselves with a shit wide forward because he's cheap and available and makes Levy look like he's doing something.
