It doesn't make a ton of sense for Bayern to sell Tel unless it's for a price we'd be unlikely to pay.

Whereas a straight loan makes a ton of sense for all parties.
Straight loan makes no sense for us IMO, only really suits us if he comes here and plays so shit we don't wanna sign him anyway. If he's shit hot for us in the remaining 4 months of the season he'll be back off to Bayern and have his pick of clubs to go to, then we're back to square one trying to shore up our wide cover.

Sure but we've got cups to win right now and a need for a player like him to do it.

It would make no sense for us if it forestalled us from buying a longer-term player we really need, but does it?

for whatever reason we have cut right back on wages, we could afford to match united offer but whether we do is another matter.

Kane, Lloris & Perisic all moving at the same time made a big dent......... (Roughly 650kpw = 34m p/a)

Wouldn't be at all suprised to see that climb back up a bit.... Especially as new deals get agreed with our younger players and we sign a few more older players to supplement them.

Money talks, and if the manager is this public about how shit the team is then he'll feel he has a clear path to walk in. Not to mention I'd imagine most players still see it with United the way the press do, "only a matter of time" before they get their shit together and start winning things again.
Don't think Tel will pay much if any mind at all to such things.

Or he will think the manager might say that about him.

I'm sure the team down the road are after Cunha or Watkins. United are waiting for Rashford and garnacho to go obviously. Villa will be in for someone if both forwards move but can't see that but will have some money off the Duran deal what is more likely. It will go down to the last day and in a position we are in we can't fuck around. I'd say united are our rivals for tel more than anyone else.

One of Wolves' offers was 22m euros (£18.44m) and the clubs remain in talks.
I asked the question about this bloke a few days ago. He's around our price range for backup. Apparently villa are in for him now also.
