Its not his first preference and he'll need convincing. We've everything agreed with Bayern but nothing agreed with him. That tells you the story. Hopefully we get it over the line but this was always going to be the hard part.
We wouldn't go to the hassle of agreeing a deal with the club unless we had sounded up his agent first and got some kind of verbal agreement on coming here and wages etc.....

We wouldn’t bother hashing out a deal with Bayern if he hadn’t given us encouragement. But obviously his agent could be using us too to flush out others. It’s all a chess match…

I'm on record in this thread as saying my ultimate preference with Tel is loan with option, not obligation, not straight purchase, not straight loan. Loan with option gives us the leeway to agree a deal with Tel if he works out, or send him back if he doesn't.

My point about Sanches is that it doesn't matter how much hype and promise Tel has behind him, just as Sanches had at that point, he could come here and completely fail to adapt to the league. I'd rather not spunk 50m outright on the off chance he does flop, but also rather not be left holding the bag in 6 months time as he agrees a big move to one of our direct rivals after we've just spent all that time adapting him to the league for them because we were too short-sighted or small time to agree an option in the loan.
You’re acting like we’re in a position of strength to attract a top young player, which we’re not. Literally the only card we have to woo him is our total belief in him and wish for him to develop with us.

(Yeh..... Loan with option is always the ultimate safe option.... But again; the discussion was spawned by you saying a straight loan is a no-gain, waste of money.)

I can't give you guarantees about the player (no-one can); but as per my first post... A loan without a purchase option is still worth doing..........

........Do you not think he's good enough to play Europa League?

If not; we shouldn't be spending 60m on him.

Not at all, I'm also on record as saying I don't think he's going to come here. Just stating my preference not to basically train a player in this country for 6 months on our wage bill ready for an Woolwich, United or Chelsea to snap him up in June.

Great if we can get this done.
Now go and finish the window with at least one quality midfielder (Fabian Ruiz loan from Psg) and LCH/LB (Hincapie/Tomori).
Really want to put a cherry on top then a right winger too.

i imagine you'd see if the player wants to come before you begin negotiating with the club, but we aren't competent so probably not.
regarding Chelsea were he'll likely end up if not United, how do they get past PSR, FSR. Tiny stadium, no CL, No sponsor, massive squad on massive wages
I assume he's open to coming to us, but he prefers to keep his options open while he can.
