I believe mentality and positivity has a big thing to do with football and winning. I think Ange has been doing the opposite of good vibes though he has spent the last month telling everyone and their dog it is ok to lose because of the injuries we have. When you are told you are tired you become tired.

This is why Poch used to bring in mind of matter speakers.
Poch also believed a bowl of lemons spoke to him.

We did hand Liverpool their only loss in 30(!) during even this death spiral.
Come on. They were playing at a walking pace in the first half.

Look, I get it. I’m a bad fan. Always support the team. But this whole Ange stuff feels like a purity test. Never be the first person to stop clapping.

How can anyone reasonably see anything other than a complete mauling at Anfield? We’re seeing some of the worst football we’ve played in years and are conceivably on the fringes of a relegation struggle. And yet people are convincing themselves that we’ll win a cup.

And what I find frustrating is that it’s casting us as plucky underdogs again. Good old Spurs the cup side. Shit in the league but they can occasionally turn it on.

We’ve come a long way and this feels like regression.

Mention of "Arteta was 15th" should warrant an automatic ban. Just the epitome of dense, ill-informed comment.

1) The season started in end of September (Covid season) so December back then was basically akin to October/November in any normal season. We are 1 day away from February ffs, you simply can't compare being 15th then with 15th now.

2)The last time Arteta was 15th was in game week 14, fully 9 games earlier than we are now.

3) After 23 games that season Woolwich sat in 11th with 31 points. After 23 games this season Spurs are 15th with 24 points. They were getting better as the season progressed, we are only getting worse.

4) Arteta had won the FA cup 4 months earlier beating Chelsea and City en route, so had credit in the bank. Ange does not.

5) Arteta was about a year into his management career so you could feasibly argue he was still learning on the job. Ange is in his ~30th year managing. This is who he is and always will be.

Too many other mitigating points to bother mentioning.
Fuck my life, a detailed and impassioned defence of Arteta’s(!) record here 30 minutes after a good win in Europe where academy kids have shined.

You weirdos are going to be absolutely gutted when Postecoglou wins you your first trophy for 64 years this season lol.

It's absolute madness. Losing to the likes of Leicester, Ipswich and Everton, can't beat Tamworth in 90 minutes, but they expect us to see off Liverpool at Anfield before Newcastle in the final, win 6 straight games in the FA cup starting with Villa when we haven't gotten past a semi final in 30 years, and a likely Europa league tie against Galatasaray in the last 16 who absolutely tore us a new arsehole three months ago. LOL. Utter, utter delusion.

I don't blame anyone for criticizing Ange who since a golden opening has never had us in imperious form, and whose risk-it-all tactics are a pretty poor fit for cup football.

A lot of people never liked or trusted any of this, as is their prerogative.

I also am personally increasingly suspicious that more of the blame for the injury crisis lies at Ange's feet than one would normally assign to a manager.

But if you haven't seen a different team since the injury crisis hit, I just don't know what you're watching.

We may have run out of time to send anything more robust out at Anfield, but generally speaking over Ange's tenure, in anything resembling full fitness we've had a punters chance of an overwhelming performance on any given day, which is what the system is designed and "proven" to do.

‘Mention of Arteta was 15th should warrant an automatic ban’?!

What should knowing the detailed circumstances behind ‘Arteta was 15th’ carry?! :porrohands:

Scrotum tarred and feathered?!

I think we should've kept Christian Gross, he had us even higher at 14th.

Because I cannot see us getting the better of any half decent side. Leicester brushed us aside, at home.
We were close to deservedly beating Liverpool 2-0 a few weeks ago (possibly the best side in the world).

The key factor, as I've mentioned before, is that the team spirit and bonding is consistently as high as I have seen, in the face of some shambolic results. To me this all means that at any given moment we are able to pull together and beat anyone on our day. Will we string 3 or 4 decent, consecutive league wins? Depressingly no. We only need to win the odd cup game here and there and we are in a final etc.Micky and Romero are back for Liverpool, that's a huge boost.

I've yet to see any of he Ange out pitchfork types account for the spirit in the squad. The guy's man management is different.

I repeat, none of this necessarily justifies Ange staying after the season ends, I have never been less inclined to watch our games than this season. Don't need the stress. I am not an oblivious fan boy about this and happy to hold up my hands if we are out of all the cups next month. If that's the case, Ange needs to go for his own sake.
