It's not just what they cost that is financially relevant though - it's their potential upside. It's pretty clear Levy is very keen on that. Spence being a classic case in point. He got "lucky" with Bale and has never forgot it. So age appears to be a key Levy interest.

How much confidence would you have in that grotesque little oddball turning up, talking about himself endlessly, and the exciting project he's masterminding at Tottenham, expecting you to ignore 24 years of gross underachievement and underinvestment in players' wages?

Levy's record of failure is 5 years longer than Tel's life. Let that sink in!
 
Levy tried. He rejected us a few years back so thought very unlikely we would get him. Hopefully learn from that. If a player is interested normally jump at chance. Dragging it out senses doubt. Think we will have a contingency.
