Let's be honest though, as dissapointing as it is, Tel was never making an impact for us this season.

The club need to go out and buy some established quality who can hit the ground running, the team badly need it.

We have Moore coming through, we don't need more teenagers.

Fucking love Cherki but where does he play?

Does he run an tackle enough to play one of the 8/10 positions? Can he play out wide?

He's glorious throw back footballer but how do you get him in a PL team?

8, absolutely not.

10 , if you play with one, yes.

But in our set up he plays wide right/drift around forward. Like Kulusevski but with ability and able to see a pass. Not just talk about it.

Like Johnson and Kulusevski he’s shot without the ball. But unlike them he’d be fucking useful against block defences.

For 20m I’d buy him just to have on your bench as a tool to use as and when.

Levy on the flight home knowing he doesn’t have to spend £60m on a player:
Miguel Herrera Win GIF
If he thought he would have to pay it he would never have offered it

Honestly, Cherki raises our level right now far more than Tel. Tel may have a higher ceiling, but Cherki day 1 is a starter and upgrades our best 11. Tel doesn't.
Vicario/kinsky
Porro/spence, Romero, VDV, Udogie/spence
kulu and pick 2 of the other midfielders
Cherki , Solanke, Sonny

This 11 could could compete with any team in the world.
Mate, come on. Apart from Cherki, this team struggled against Ipswich and Palace.

From the public way this deal played out, to Levy personally travelling to Munich. It all felt like one big romantic gesture to paper over long term negligence.. Akin to bringing in Conte when the fans were at the angriest.. Going big on Ndombele as a little present to Pochettino.

The thing is, it's becoming an old trick. He didn't go all in with Conte after that initial shot of dopamine, and Pochettino needed more in his rebuild than one big signing.

Good stewardship, is constant commitment and care to the football side. Not years of corner cutting and shortcuts and trying to hold back the tide with one flashy show every once in a while. When we start getting that right, maybe we can think about being attractive to talents that are in high demand again.
