with Tel, don’t know why we don’t do what most clubs do and tap up the player/agent first to make sure they are interested before tabling a big bid. Him turning us down is embarrassing.
It's common that agents play clubs up against each other. For example, Man Utd were dragging their feet but once Spurs got actively involved they changed their plans and are now "pushing" Rashford to Villa - and Man Utd know they have to match of improve the offer Spurs made.
Tel, no doubt, is a talent with huge potential ...but his career trajectory has not been expected, which is why he's hardly getting any playing time at Bayern.

But fans complain that we sign mediocre players, so what are we meant to do?
I do applaud levy improving academy and may have to use that more to grow more as club. Possible we might have got Tel under peak poch. But until we consistently challenge or win things, elite cast offs wont join us imo. Sound like a parrot but should never explored muani or tel in first place. Both rejected us a few years ago. Pointless renewing interest.

Okay so what are we meant to do then? :D

You can actually sense players reluctance to join us this window.

We really are a shit show.

This is a sign of whats to come if Ange is still in charge in the summer.

Just sack him and get Iraola in. Watch the players flock to us.

The thing is, as shit as our league position looks, we’re 1-0 up in a semi final, still in the FA Cup and into the last 16 of the Europa league.

If Tel wants to turn that down to be a bench option elsewhere then so be it. I don’t think a move to Utd will be a great one for him, but I might be wrong. Villa however would be a good move.

Think the club are heavily investing in academy or players with potential imo. The only way to get the elite players in our position if we had a chelsea or city owner....pay way over odds to get them. That's how they did it to begin with. PSR blocks that now though.

So there's nothing we could have done in that case but to try and get these sort of players...kind of answering your own question it sounds like 🤷🏾‍♀️

Only seen him live twice and was impressed both times. These games:

Why is it "absurd" that Villa are still apparently in the race?

We are fifteenth in the table, little if any chance of European football next season, and have a decimated squad.

Alternatively, he could go to a club, in the CL, likely to be in Europe next season with a settled fit squad.

We are not a "big" club, and haven't been for almost a quarter of a century. Once we understand that the better.

Tel was a punt by the club, in order to help Ange, who has said time after time that he only wants players who would improve us.

If you can't accept any of that then don't waste your time in here.

No doubt the Lange will move on to another target, or maybe wait until the Summer.

Shit happens.
You are welcome to accept Levy’s view of Tottenham being the biggest of the little clubs. I personally don’t buy such a position.

By mosts metrics we can use to measure clubs, Tottenham will trump Villa, excluding 81 perhaps. When the season ends we can point at the table. And say so and so are bestest.

I genuinely think Tottenham will go down this season. I hope to be incorrect.

On that point Villa went down as recently as 2016. Four days before we played in the Champions League final in 29, Villa beat Derby in the play offs to come back up to the Premier League. Now we are below them in the pecking order of a not especially exciting 19 year old. Thats the absurd part.

To borrow your quote, if you can't accept any of that then don't waste your time in here.
