Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bailey is a pathetic link. Not good enough to start for us and just blocks off young lads getting minutes. Is he genuinely any better than Moore/Odobert/Johnson? He's an improvements on Werner and Soloman maybe but even thats debatable. We need to be more ambitious than this. Signing Villa's bench players..... FFS
Yes, he is currently better than Moore and Johnson. Odobert is injured until April, so is a moot point. As long as it isn't a permanent transfer or loan with obligation, I think it would be a good signing.

Assuming Danso will play RCB, we just need a LCB backup/competition for VdV (to replace Davies) and we will have a decent roster of CBs. I actually think Davies is a very decent CB in the twighlight of his career, but is just not suited to the high line / does not have enough pace. By all accounts Vuškovic is also a bit of an oil tanker pace wise, but I suspect Ange will no longer be here by the time he is a first choice CB (i.e. 2-3 years time). I'd be looking to move Dragusin on this summer and replace with a left sided CB, and either offer Davies a player coaching role, or let him move to another PL club to finish his career as a week in, week out starter. I am hopeful of keeping Romero next season, but if he left for bigger things then we will need another RC

Now:
RCB = Romero / Danso / Dragusin
LCB = Van de Ven / Davies / Gray (emergencies)

25/26:
RCB = Romero / Danso / Gray (emergencies)
LCB = Van de Ven / TBD / Vuškovic
Spence filled in at right CB a couple of times and he was excellent, better than Dragusin.
I would be more than comfortable having Spence fill in at CB whenever needed.

No Johan Bakayoko links. Pretty surprising really.

Wouldn't be a bad shout for our needs.
Would have been a v hard deal to pull off in Jan tbh, they are in a pretty tight title race with Ajax and they only played their last CL game against Liverpool last weds, without the ability to register replacements until after the last group game I don't think anyone was likely to do business until then. Given they have drawn a pretty poor Juventus side they probably fancy their chances of progressing as well, more likely a goer in Summer but doubt we will be dining at that table unfortunately.

I actually feel cautiously optimistic about signing someone before the deadline, whether they'll be any good or not remains to be seen but I reckon Levy will be aware there were chants of "Levy Out" when we were winning and he has backed himself into a corner now, if he wants to claim he is backing Ange it is now or never, Kinsky and Danso does not represent adequate backing. If we are going to stick with Ange til the summer which seems the most likely outcome now considering most managers won't want to jump ship this late in the season, and it's starting to make more and more sense to bin Ange on the final day assuming we win nothing (really don't think we will) and give ourselves a month or so of breathing room on finding a replacement.

If our business is concluded then no matter whether Ange stays or goes he's gonna need to stop attending games soon, his poor ego won't be able to handle the level of abuse he's gonna start receiving on a weekly basis.

I haven't watched much chelsea tbh, how has madueke looked? Any way we could bring him back?
He’s good taking on his man but Is erratic in the final bit alot of the time and apparently doesn’t work hard off the ball.

He also did that interview before our game with Chelsea last year where he was describing Chelsea as the biggest team in London and a dream to play for such a big club. A lot of sly digs at us. So no thanks fuck him.

Yes, he is currently better than Moore and Johnson. Odobert is injured until April, so is a moot point. As long as it isn't a permanent transfer or loan with obligation, I think it would be a good signing.

I think he’d frustrate us but I agree with your post. Moore is half as effective on the right though, he’s being played now to be given experience I suspect.

Shame we can’t swap him for Johnson!

We need another attacker in though and they are obviously looking. Always at the last moment though, which doesn’t really help anyone as the risk of failure is so much greater.

Would be interested to hear people's preferences....

Warm body in to make up for injuries or
Only transfer of a proven quality that is better than what we have already?
