Why are Crystal Palace players so hard to buy?
I mean they can be bought, but like almost any other club I'm sure they're just not dead keen on selling their best player on deadline day with no time to replace him for anything less than "fuck you" money.
Eze and Guehi will likely get early moves this summer and they'll have a big rebuild job on their hands, they've been sensible not to dismantle their entire team without the chance to bed in replacements and plan for life without Olise, Eze and Guehi all at once.

Probably a confirmation that Tel never had any intension of moving even after Spurs agreed a fee with Munich (a step that no other club seems to have been able to) - nothing Spurs could do about that despite the usual bed wetters (and supporters of other clubs on TFC) comments a few days ago.

Tel had an opportunity to come to a big club by most metrics.

Bayern don't want him, and you would think they know a player of likely star quality.

Some players think too much of themselves or are fearful of change. Sometimes/not often they are proven right.

Tel is young, so it's understandable.

I think never chase a player who seems reluctant to come, because it's often one short step to being unsettled.

When we talked to him, he seemed very amenable to the move - but I think (20/20 hindsight) its clear he was using the threat of a move to try to put pressure on Munich to play him more. That's blown up in his face, but it also wasted a lot of time of Spurs and other clubs.

A loan of a striker would be nice, Richy looks like he has never seen a football before
That’s Richarlison who has 2 in 3 in the league since returning from injury, and, 10 in his last 13 Starts?

Seriously, folks get upset at his fee and associated expectation. He’s erratic but there’s a very good player in there.

He reminds me of Lamela, in expectation due to fee clouding judgement, plus bringing a give it all shithouse attitude.

Whatever the reasons, it needs some assessment.
persuading fifa to not hold overlong tournaments in summers, to not release players to domestic leagues giving them a 10 day preseason (rather than the necessary 4-6 weeks) etc ..... that's why international players union is taking legal action against fifa/uefa.

a lot of clubs/players are suffering injuries (even only playing once a week). there is a lot outside Spurs control

Arda Guler on a 6month loan today.

Make It So Patrick Stewart GIF

True, either way he's not a long term solution in this system.

looked to be about best cb available last January.

To quote Steve Hitchens (not a great source usually) 'I hate January' - reason is that few clubs want to lose their better players in mid season except maybe if money is tight and/or they are out of europe and fewer fixtures in 2nd half of the season.

Not to mention the extra games in European comps this season, some teams playing 4 additional fixtures compared to the old format to reach the same stage of the tournament. Seems strange that we recognised in the 90s that high fixture load wasn't conducive to high quality football when the league capacity was reduced but now the powers that be are taking us backwards in terms of player welfare in favour of maximising their own revenue. At the end of the day, why should a load of suits be able to make decisions that massively affect players' welfare and long term careers without any input from the players themselves?
The really annoying thing is because of how tribal football support is, any manager or player who speaks out about this issue is largely derided by rival fans with platitudes like "everyone else has to deal with it", "player X moaning again, surprise surprise" etc etc, do we as fans really want more games squeezed into the calendar than ever if the cost is having elite players spending months at a time in the physio room with muscular injuries? I don't think we do tbh.

I'd like an upgrade, but not sure we could get a striker who is a big improvement even at start of this window

Yeah but that's what the bloke from Lens is for. I suppose we are likely losing Davies in the summer also. I can see us after brining in another 2 CBs one to replace Romero and one Davies
That would be an absurd move by the club. A humble hard working player who realises he's a part of a bigger picture, genuinely seems to like being here and rarely lets us down when called upon. It's not like his salary demands would even be stopping us from recruiting and he counts as homegrown. Keeping Ben Davies seems to have no serious downside.
