Title is gone. They're in a very good position to qualify for CL football again and when the CL restarts they can prioritise lineups to favour it so why would they need to overspend or get someone subpar in now for?

If they were maybe 3/4 points behind then there would be pressure but not 9/12.

Despite optimism last night it's now given way to pessimism, we don't seem to have any new irons in the fire at this point and the only big-name player with a "saga" in this window (Tel) has already rejected us, I don't really see anything out there we could realistically pull off at the 11th hour apart from a signing that basically only strengthens us until our injured players return, which would be pretty pointless IMO. Even Dibling wouldn't particularly move the needle right now and it looks like we've fucked that off anyway.
A 2nd choice keeper and a loan CB, not exactly the transfer window Levy needed to pull out of the bag to show he's backing the manager he's refused to sack through an absolutely horrendous couple of months. I think I'd be angrier at this stage if he did sack Postecoglou after the league cup semi should we go out, because it would make it clear as day he just didn't want to bring in a new manager while there was an opportunity in the transfer window to help back him to achieve results and hit the ground running.
I hate Levy, I hate Lange, I hate Munn, I'm not a fan of Ange... but if our primary targets are not interested then I'm not dropping 70m on a secondary target for the sake of it... if they don't want to come, go back to the drawing board and build a target list that is tenable... if I am sitting with the 24th pick in the NFL draft, I'm not wasting my time scouting the best QB prospect because he's going 1st or 2nd... the same applies here. When players are rejecting us for Villa, a team that was in the Championship not long ago, then you have to do one of two things a) break your pay scale b) reset your target list. We know a) isn't going to happen so b) it is... but I don't want us spunking the summer transfer budget on players who are not interested and we are simply being used by players agent to up the asking price, agent fee, signing on fee and weekly wages. Those players can fuck right off...

Even then I just don't care about what Woolwich do or don't do and I especially don't like seeing it used on here as an excuse for us failing to properly push the boat out.

Their weekly wage bill is something like £1.3m a week more than ours. I have no idea how they're doing for PSR and so I'm willing to bet they're almost fairly stretched to who they can bring in.
