I take some comfort that the club have moved on from the likes of Johnson to targeting Tel.
At least they are moving in the right direction. Frontline still needs massive surgery in the summer.
Club firstly has to decide are we keeping Ange because he plays central full backs who provide no width which means the wingers need to ideally hold width.
Basically we need proper wingers similar to Odoburts profile. So two winger that can run the full backs, retain the ball and press hard and a striker that can do the same. Solanke fits the bill for that, Richy when fit kind of does, Johnson on the right doesn’t.
Left wing - we might be ok
Son: keep just because he has qualities
Moore: young talent, no problem
Odoburt: more suitable for Ange’s system
Werner: end the loan
Striker - upgrade Richy, work out what to do with young strikers
Solanke: suit the system
Richy: too injury prone, upgrade if we can
Lankshear/Scarlett: hope one of them can grow into the full time back up
Right wing - a mess, ideally we buy two and sell Johnson if we are keeping Ange, but more realistically we just buy one.
Johnson: if we keep Ange how does he fit? Scoring goals and doing nothing else isn’t enough
Kulusevski: needs to play central not right wing
In short the right wing is the obvious problem.
