Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he's any good then others will sign him on better money than the miser will pay further down the road.

More smoke and mirrors if we can't get a proper deal in place.

Having been turned down by him Initially I think this is a mistake.

Spurs should sign players who want to play for Spurs.

Not audition them for other clubs.
Although I am happy to have him even short term your penultimate line is exactly what Angelos said

Remember, Tel rejected Spurs first...

Here's what Paul Merson said on the Transfer Show on Friday night after Mathys Tel rejected a £50m transfer to Spurs...

"Mathys Tel can't go to Spurs now. Fans won't be happy with that. As soon as they've heard that he doesn't want to join, and those three other clubs don't come in for him and then he ends up at Tottenham, the fans won't be happy with that.

"I wouldn't say it's embarrassing for Spurs. He's coming from Bayern Munich, he's not coming from a lesser team. No disrespect to Tottenham, but he's coming from a huge team. He's got to get the right move." 🤪

.... the SALT is strong in this one!
It’s usually a pretty safe bet to go against Merse’s game predictions!

Seems we need to add transfers to that too! 😂

Usually hate these short-term deals but given the state we are in... why not.

Hopefully, he does so well that Bayern want to keep him and we never see him in the prem again.

So Tel decided not to join us, waited for United or Woolwich to bid, which they didn't, and so he then thought fuck it, I might as well go there?
Not my reading. He wants to stay at Bayern. That's not an issue for me, we tried to buy. He said no but we offered 50 million. So right there Bayern have a guide price for four months time. Then United and Woolwich can't buy now at that sum so when offered the loan with Bayern prepared to wait for 50 Tel thinks yeah that's for me. Chance to try it. Not sure there's much for fans to dislike

To be fair, he's here now so I'm not that bothered as long as he does the business. Haven't been impressed by him from what I've seen this season, and I watch a lot of Bayern and German football. But he may flourish as an out and out striker.

I take some comfort that the club have moved on from the likes of Johnson to targeting Tel.

At least they are moving in the right direction. Frontline still needs massive surgery in the summer.

Club firstly has to decide are we keeping Ange because he plays central full backs who provide no width which means the wingers need to ideally hold width.

Basically we need proper wingers similar to Odoburts profile. So two winger that can run the full backs, retain the ball and press hard and a striker that can do the same. Solanke fits the bill for that, Richy when fit kind of does, Johnson on the right doesn’t.

Left wing - we might be ok

Son: keep just because he has qualities
Moore: young talent, no problem
Odoburt: more suitable for Ange’s system
Werner: end the loan

Striker - upgrade Richy, work out what to do with young strikers

Solanke: suit the system
Richy: too injury prone, upgrade if we can
Lankshear/Scarlett: hope one of them can grow into the full time back up

Right wing - a mess, ideally we buy two and sell Johnson if we are keeping Ange, but more realistically we just buy one.

Johnson: if we keep Ange how does he fit? Scoring goals and doing nothing else isn’t enough
Kulusevski: needs to play central not right wing

In short the right wing is the obvious problem.
