I may be 100% wrong, and I hope I am, but I think Mr Levy dropped the obligation clause on their toes in the last minutes and maybe they don't like it.

Sigh

VDV had a history of injuries before he joined the club including a hammy that kept him out for 77 days at Wolfsburg, lazy (once again) and boring to blame Ange.

And after that hamstring injury he had at Wolfsburg he went injury free the following season (maybe because Wolfsburg gave him a longer break, i.e. 77 days, to recover).
While at Spurs he's now done his hamstring 4 times in 1 1/2 season, plus a minor knee injury plus anther set back just a few days ago...
Whether it's the fault of Angelos, or the medics or the intensity of the EPL or that van de Ven's hamstrings are simply giving in - or a combination of all those factors - is not something we on this site can know sure. I don't think it's purely a coincident and back luck that van de Ven and so many other players suffers from injuries...
But even Angelos has admitted that his style of playing and training is hard on players' hamstrings.

No idea how good both Tel and Danso are (will judge them in a spurs shirt)
But left short again and made the signings way too late in the window, hopefully VDV isn't as bad as first feared.
