I’ve been in the nuclear sub, someone explain to me the Tel stuff, we can sign him in the summer? And what’s happened to Mickey?
If a football club has an "option to buy" on a player but the player doesn't want to join them, the club cannot force the transfer; the player has the right to choose where they want to play, and the club can only proceed with the transfer if the player agrees to the move

The loaning club has the right to purchase the player permanently at a pre-determined price at the end of the loan period, but if the parent club (the club that owns the player) doesn't want to sell, the loaning club cannot force them to do so; they must simply return the player at the end of the loan period

Are you sure this is right, it sounds to me like you're describing a loan here and not a loan with an option.

If the murmurings around VDV and Romero are true , we've left ourselves woefully short at CB

But tbh I'd have been shocked if we did anything else

It's what we do , god help Archie Gray and Co

Key points about "option to buy" loans:
  • Choice lies with the loaning club:
The club that has the player on loan decides whether to activate the option to buy or not.

  • No obligation to sell:
The parent club is not obligated to sell the player even if the option to buy is triggered, they can still choose to not sell.
