Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Son was one of our worst players today. In the first half, he stifled a lot of counter attacks by giving the ball away too easily, specifically underhitting his passes.
He should probably become an impact player now, though Son remains a brilliant player on his day, it's simply not as consistent as he used to be.
 
Redeemed himself with goals last season, but he looks truly rotten now. Besides a brilliant pass every 10 games, he's a wet blanket on the pitch. And frankly about as uninspiring a captain as I could pick from this squad.

There were plenty of other players deserving of criticism tonight.

Having one good shot that hits the bar does not a 90mins make. And a big part of that falls on Ange too for continuing to play him.

The problem is more about how he plays him. Son has been the most pressing and running forward in all of the world top leagues. That's not how to utilize a player like Son. It's pure madness. There's one reason that we're 14th that is bigger than any of the players, and that reason is Ange.

I'll agree that he's not being utilised properly, similar to most of our forwards. We are not set up to maximise our attacking qualities.

It's also pretty clear that Sonny's lost a yard of pace, his finishing has been poor, and is not contributing anywhere near as much on the pitch. He needs to be rested and used in a different way.

Lead by example. If you can't, let someone else do the job. The sad faces and hands in the air "we go again" routine is very unbecoming.
