Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's beyond a joke now. Was suppose to be back early Jan, then mid Jan, then we finally see him end of Jan for 45 minutes when he looked like his normal self albeit against a bunch of farmers. He's then unavailable for Brentford and Liverpool and now Villa but apparently he's not injured or re-injured so what the fuck is going on. I get the impression he doesnt fancy it. Probably sees how toxic it all is and is looking for the exit door. I know our fan base have a love affair with Micky but wake up, like Romero he's mugging us off!!!
maybe like Maddison? See through it as they live it every day. Young man still and Liverpool apparently were interested. Wonder what he is thinking now.

These 2 managers. Slot probably realised if Salah doesnt need to be running around like a lunatic he'll be fresher to score. So the team around him allow him not to track back.
Son is still having to run and run and run the last 18 months and his performances are nosediving

You know for a fact that Salah is running less than Son? Or less than he was under Klopp?

Or you just chatting again?

not going to search it. Was Micky consistently injured before he came to Spurs? He is some talent and to mis-manage his return for when there is supposed to be some 4 year 'project' (used to be the five year plan..heard it before) or some other tripe is not wise.
This is off of transfermarkt so hopefully they haven't missed any:

But he had one hamstring injury at Wolfsburg that kept him out for 14 games. At Volendam he had a knee injury that kept him out for 2 games, and a foot injury that kept him out for 17. Other than that the only absences listed are for illness. So that's three injuries that required time off before he came here, versus 5 injuries just with Spurs.

Played 5 games in his season at Wolfsburg. Had to be patient during his first season in Germany, not helped by a hamstring injury but second season he played all but one game. To be honest I think he's one of those players who will get a hammy every season.

Players feeling entitled enough to “see through the manager” is ok with you?

They get to choose which coach they want to play for do they?
if many fans feel they see it I am sure players do. the two mentioned are really good footballers but for different reasons it is not happening for them at the moment. Will see when the inevitable happens.

mate they dont want to be in sprint races every 5 minutes anymore. They came to our club to play football not to be olympic athletes so they dont want to fuck their bodies up any more.

Theyll be back when the manager is eventually sacked (well VDV anyway).

Come on, man. The reason Van Dijk and Salah can play so many minutes is because their team is dominant and balanced. They have players in their prime who do all the running and get rotated, and they have the old heads who are allowed to cheat the running a bit. Salah is allowed to not track back as much. Van Dijk doesn’t make all the covering defensive runs. Everything is just perfectly balanced.
None of which Mr We Dont Stop would allow....

Not the question I’m asking and not the point I’m making.

I want to see this club win. The clubs that I see winning don’t have a culture of the players feeling they can choose which coach they can play for,

Now, I’m not saying I actually see that culture at this club but I do have an issue with people celebrating the idea that player might be quitting on a coach at this club,

That’s ok with you?

What happened if they did it to a coach that you do rate?
in half a season of football we've had a record 9 hamsrtring injuries to nine different players and about 13/14 injuries total.

It is common knowledge that our manager has not listenened to medical advice so much so that he had a conflict with the main medical guy and the guy left his role of 15 or so years.

Numerous players have come back and re-injured themselves.

The intense training and our ridiculous style of play will undoubtedly result in players re injuring themselves so im not surprised theres a reluctancy to come back early. If you cant accept that well thats up to you. I dont like it but i accept why it appears to be happening.

youre missing the point.

Its not about coaches i rate or dont rate. Its about the current manager being completley negligent when it comes to the handling of injuries.

I dont have to like something to accept or understand why its happening. These players have a future after Tottenham Hotspur (whether its at another club or after football) so theyre reluctant to rush back when theyve seen the results time and time again.

Youve had your head in the sand the whole time, always arguing none of this had anything to do with Ange despite all the evidence. It was only a matter of time shit like this was going to happen.

Salah doesn’t have to press?

He wasn’t paying 2-3x per week in one of the most aggressive pressing systems in the world for years under Klopp?

Slopp is playing less intense than Klopp they play CL which is more intense than EL. Maybe Konate runs a bit more than VVD but to me those are just excuses
Carragher did a good MNF video on how they let Salah cheat a bit on tracking back. Their pressing is far more targeted to certain triggers too. Obviously back in his prime he did a lot more work with Mane and Firmino. It’s more about the control they have in the large majority of matches. They’re very rarely chasing the game or the ball.

Did they compare that to the tracking back Son does or doesn’t do?

No, but obviously we were pressing more than any other side earlier in the season. I think Son’s struggle’s are more than just purely physical though. Personally I think asking him to stay wide and beat fullbacks has dented his confidence. He just can’t get the same separation he used to. Ideally these days, he’d be best suited to playing off a CF and being more of a poacher I think.
