1. Silva or Iraola. I think Silva, personally, has done a more impressive job over a longer period of time and would be less of a risk plus Iraola has a lot of injuries this season.
2. Im not someone that follows chairmen, owners' news - it doesnt matter to me - i really don't think it will change a huge deal - we would likely do better than we are doing this season but i very doubt any new change in owners is going to fill our trophy cabinet up at this stage of the prem league era with the current spending laws and huge competition from a large number fo very wealth owners.
1. absolutely not Silva, he is the next Nuno... okay at low expectation club but as soon as he went to a big-ish club he failed miserably and his teams have a terrible record of conceding first.
2. very wealthy owners i.e. state run doesn't mean success (see Newcastle - richest owners in Prem League but can't spend due to rules) - personally, I would like an owner who will spend 60% of revenue on wages rather than <50% - someone who will push the boundaries and buy players at the top of their game.

1) Appreciate your opinon - who would you have in and why?
2) Which owners are currently pushing those boundaries? I can only think of City and Woolwich with one purchase of Rice.

1. I don't know dudu - I would love a manager who can unite the fan base but not really sure one exists... I think McKenna is closest because of Spurs link and he is not tainted in anyway so if pushed I'd probably land there...
2. You answered your own question - City and Woolwich... but I think there are many owners who would increase our wages to revenue ratio to something similar to City and Wollwich.

Fair points, thanks. For me the ambition of Levy/ENIC is a roadblock to doing better than we are - I agree absolutely with your points about FFP and I don't think there's a silver bullet on this one, but I do think with more ambitious owners concerned about football we could easily be top half.

Yeah fair - but wages to revenue doesnt for most team equal - buying players at the top of their game -

We have been a to half team for a long time.

With more ambitious owners we would be able to pay more ambitious wages and compete for certain players but this idea that we will suddenly be bidding for the elite players (not your idea, anyone's idea) is a complete fantasy.

Look at Liverpool's purchases over the last couple of years - it's not about the top elite players - it's about a good balance and identifying players that will be in that elite bracket

And for the record, many of Liverpools purchases over the last few years were playing yesterday - without Salah they are not even close to being the same team.

The problem (in my view) is that our board's effort, energy and engagement are going way too much towards infrastructure projects and not enough towards football, which has been badly mismanaged for some time - imv it's increasingly clear we struck lucky with Poch (perfect fit in many respects) but even then screwed it up by not giving him the support he needed - the year without any signings was criminal, in a period when we were so close as well.

Levy/ENIC should realise without the football club their stadium project wouldn't have gotten off the ground.

Yeah fair - but wages to revenue doesnt for most team equal - buying players at the top of their game -
I think there is a correlation between the two... you can't buy players at the top of their game without paying top wages i.e. 300k per week. If we do this, then the impact will be an increase in wages to revenue ratio. I don't think we've ever had an issue paying transfer fees.
Out top 5 most expensive singings - 65, 63, 60, 48, 42
Woolwich top 5 - 105, 72, 65, 55, 50 (take out the outlier of Rice and we are pretty much on par)
Man City top 5 - 100, 78, 63, 62, 60 (take out Grealish and again it's on a par)
Bin Dippers top 5 - 85, 75, 65, 60, 52

You could argue we are slightly behind these teams in fees paid but the real difference is wages... our highest earners are Son and Werner on 175 but I would say all of these teams have guys on 250+

I guess Liverpool buck the trend then don't they when you have a look at what they are paying the wages for their newest incomers

Liverpool only have two players on the kinds of wages you're talking about - Salah and VVD with TAA a little behind, but only cos they have been there years. Gravenberch, Diaz, Nunez, Macallister, not were brought in on close to 250k, none above 200k

Diaz is still on 55k.

If what you said was true - Chelsea would be doing better too...
